The Jamison Family

This mystery is all over the place.

First you have Mr and Mrs are always fighting, both depressed..he's in chronic pain, she's bipolar..so maybe they go and commit suicide. But when bodies are found, no weapon was found.

I totally believe in spirits and how a house could be demonic.and could just drive you crazy.

Drugs? Well this could be true. But no drugs were found unless they just didn't look hard enough. Security cameras, whether from mom or not, and loads of cash, I could believe that.

The white supremacist, he was ruled out but doesn't mean he didn't get someone else, initiation?

So they find the bodies 4 yrs later, but it takes like 7 months to ID them!?! Crazy.

They were murdered, I don't think it was suicide. The picture of the girl was weird, but sometimes a six year old girl doesn't want to take a picture.

One of those mysteries we may never know.

This was one of the episodes that was most haunting to me. So many questions.

I agree, it was murder. I also agree that sometimes a child doesn't want a picture taken, but THAT particular picture struck me as something else. She looked like she was under duress.

With the money, gun. Its all weird. they were involved in something. and whoever takes a childs life is a psychopath with no empathy.

But this was probably drug/mob related. Just odd.

Why would a murderer leave $30,000 in cash behind???

Maybe they forced them to tell the murderers where the real money and drugs were on their property/in their house. Maybe there was a bigger stash somewhere else.

Assuming that there were shading people involved, the most logical reason is that the bad guys did not know that 30K was in the car.

Its not too far fetch to assume that an accident occurred in the woods, and their bodies have not yet found.

reply

But you know that their bodies WERE found two years ago -- right?

I did not know that. Thanks. Wonder how far away from the car they were and if the location provides any indication they had gone off trail and were lost in the woods. If they were found in a location where they obvious weren't lost, and could have made it back to the car, then it would be extremely suspicious circumstances since they were found together.

Previously, I had wondered if the little girl had fallen down into a gully, and the parents died trying to save her, or a possible bear attack if bears are in the general area.

It was very odd that they would have such a large sum of money with them. Got to wonder if the police investigation uncovered the reason they had it with them.

This situation reminds me of that other family that disappointed in califoria and it was thought they disappeared into Mexico, but later were found buried in the (califoria?) desert just off a major highway. All were shot\killed. Whoever has the ability to kill little kids got to be the most ruthless type of person, and there extreme possibility the kids knew the killer otherwise why kill them.

Grace, do you have a link of the picture of the girl that is mentioned that raises eyebrows?

reply

I always just thought it was drugs. Parents decided to do some drugs, maybe got the daughter to as well or she was waiting for mom and dad to wake up and died of exposure. Maybe they were trying to get rid of the spirits so they wouldn't follow them to the new house. Maybe dad lost it and killed the other two (strangled since no weapon was found), then OD'd on whatever drugs he had on him.

With the mental illness and possible drug use I just couldn't help but to assume it was some type of murder/suicide type thing. Or maybe it could have been something not sinister like they thought they were just looking at the land wondering if they could build a house instead of buying one and disturbed a nest of killer bees.

I don't think I've seen this episode but I really want to now. It does remind me of the mom, dad, and kids that disappeared into Mexico - but were they the ones found dead as another commenter said? I believe it was a young mother and father and a son and a daughter. I wonder if it's the same family I'm thinking of that the other commentor thought of as well

You may be thinking of the McStays. A family of 4, parents and two boys were thought to have possibly have been seen on surveillance cameras crossing into Mexico. However, the family, including the children were found buried in the California desert. The husband's business partner is being tried for the murders.

The Jamison family was also found, not too far from the truck they left at the side of the road, but no cause of death was determined for any of them because the bodies were so decomposed.

You're thinking of a different family other than the Jamison family. The Jamisons were murdered and buried in the california desert.

The family your referencing were found in the mountains. My thinking is they got lost and died of exposure and\or were attacked by a wild animal, such as bear.

That was the McStays. It one of the cases I always found the most interesting so I remember it and the family well. One of the dad's siblings found the house seemingly abandoned with the family dogs in it. Their car was found in mall(?) parking lot close to the California/Mexico border. For a time it was believed they may have walked over into Mexico because a family that resembled them was caught on a security camera doing just that. Also they found the wife had been doing internet researches about passports so I think it strengthened that idea. However, the family of four was found in the California desert by I think a dirt biker. The business partner of the father is being tried for their murder, and the last I read I think he was going to represent himself like only a fool would.

That's the Jamisons; two parents and a little girl. I agree the elements could've at least played a part in one or more of their deaths. Why they got out of their car is one of the biggest mysteries...it would make at least some sense they got out to take the dog for a short walk, but the dog was left in the car. Very strange.

reply

Yep, I was the one who was mixed up.... Must have been a long day. Thx!

reply

easy to do, the remains of both families were found within a day of each other...

This, to me, has always seemed the most telling aspect of the disappearance. I can't get the image of the little girl's face out of my mind, and there is more than one way to explain how full of dread she looked. The first and most popular explanation is that her parents had already been abducted, the poor little thing knew she was going to be abducted, and whoever kidnapped/attacked the family snapped the picture to try to calm her down and perhaps keep her from screaming.

But another reason for the look of such intense distress is that she wanted to bring the dog along and had some foreboding about leaving it behind. Children are often very attune to animals' discomfort or loneliness. Since no one was around to witness it, no one knows if the dog wasn't barking wildly when the family was forced from the car--but the little girl's picture could indicate that the dog was barking, and the fact the kidnappers ignored it only aggravated her fear.

This story is heads-and-shoulders the most disturbing "Disappeared" has ever featured. And unlike some other posters here, I think the policeman/deputy was an extremely compassionate and sensitive man.
