katrina was just right for the part. there might've been some other Indian actresses who could do the conversations about life just as well, or even better but there was a huge amount of physical acting needed for that role, which she pulled off extremely well. She excelled at,
the motorcycling,
the diving,
tomatina scene,
the casual sex,
being a convincing world traveller,
independent but also feminine,
wise but not intimidating/bookish-serious,
fun-loving and spontaneous but also determined and ambitious (eg chasing down that kiss & the big life goals she set herself)
making a living off a very sporty career.

i used to think she was eye candy and a bit wooden till i saw this movie. the girl needs to work on her facial expressions a bit more but the way she carries herslf was excellent.

part of the reason why she succeeds as a dancer is because she has that brilliant control over her body and because she has that special Zeenat Aman brand of sensuality. when the malikas and kareenas wear a short dress or show cleavage it is so obviously for the men, their whole being screams look at me, did you see me pout? how i bent down so you can look up here? or look in there? with the zeenat amans and katrinas of this world when they wear the same sort of things they look like the wore it for themselves. these very special girls have a way about them that say i know you're looking at me. it is a statement , not a question.
