List of references

Guys, help me to build a list of references you noticed here. I'll update the index here with all your contributions.

Ones I noticed:

• My Hand is a Dolphin - Rebecca Black's Friday Meme - in Khaabon Ke Parinday song and yet another time when they're in the SUV.
• Top Gun - The scene where they walk in slow-mo for Skydiving with helmets, the initial bit of was the Top Gun theme.
• Doordarshan - No need to explain this

• Kaho Na Pyaar Hai - Hrithik's dance steps is a reference to his famous dance in KNPH
• Dharmendra various films - Abhay deol's dance steps in "Senorita"

reply

hrithik does his classic kaho naa pyaar hai step
and abhay does his uncles famous dharam paaji step in the senorita song,

its a blink and you miss homage...

the TOP gun reference went over a LOT of peoples head!

An Idea is the most resilient parasite - Inception

reply

Great! Any idea which song is that Dharam paaji steps taken from?

PS: Also the song Sooraj Ki Baahon appears to be a reference to Hitch, however it reminds me more of the JK Wedding Dance Video.

Another one - the "Diamond Biscuit" ad is a homage to the famous "Diamond Comics ad" if anyone remembers it

reply

The Diamond Biscuit scene was the funniest moment for me. Could not stop laughing.

By the way heard someone say Satte Pe Satta tune was used in the background- any idea which is that? Guess I missed that one.

reply

Hrithik drinking Mountain Dew while signing the consent form before skydiving ! It's not a movie reference, of course.

reply

Haha, not to mention Farhan saying "Dar Ke Aagey Jeet Hai" - but that's just brand endorsement. :)

reply

the music for Der Lagi Lekin.....is copied/inspired by the Fort Minor song- "Where'd You Go" both songs are amazing lyrically as well as musically loved em.

reply

Are you serious? Where'd You Go? Doesn't even sound remotely similar to me?

It sounds similar to SEL's "Aaj Kal Zindagi" from Wake Up Sid.

reply

yepp m pretty much serious the starting rythem for both the songs are quite similar....

reply

Nope it isn't. Unless you subscribe to the thought that every song is copied from some other, obviously.

reply

its not like that :) it seems you took ZNMD far more seriously so you are not ready to hear anything bad about it its your wish.

reply

What? Are you kidding me?
Of course I like the movie, that doesn't mean I've to defend every negative regarding the film. But here, you're just talking nonsense. That's a rap song for chrissakes.

reply

now again you are going with genre cmon man i don't know why u ppl always try to categorize things whether its movies or music i guess there should be no genre or categories a good movie/music can only be good or bad no grey lines.....and i was talking about the beats and rhythm i know thats a rap song just try to listen the introduction of both the songs if you cant compare try to play both the songs simultaneously and if you still din get it call me a dumb and don't waste your time :)
