This movie doesn't make sense at all!!

First, it tries to rip of Terminator 2, Iron man 2, Mortal Combat, spiderman, may be more..all but failed.

Secondly, the movie has many inconsistencies - e.g. when the hero died initially he was given a christian burial and on coming back to India they were everywhere in the temple. Also, I remember him being buried and the next few minutes his ashes were dumped into a river , where the boy hesitated and put them in his pocket.

Thirdly. poor music - one should not play such annoying musics during fight scenes.

Fourthly, how can Kareena act like a baby chick happy going after her hubby just died! Many unnecessary comedy scenes which breaks the flow of the movie. The boy recreating G-one without any computer background (than games).

Fifthly, the script is very weak. The typical "Shaktiman" explanation during the fight and chase scenes.

Sixth, Bollywood movies are very very poor in art and background setting- most sets were not designed and just taken for granted.

Seventh, Unnecessary special effects - poor story boarding - or may be there is no storyboard at all.

Many more..but cant waste effort typing..

This movie appeals me NOT all since the first minute and I have wasted 2:30hours of my life in this!! That is pretty sad.

Given a chance, I think I can make a very good movie with this budget and talented crew. Or, may be the budget should have been used somewhere to help the slums people in Mumbai.

This is the way I see as a movie critic..rest what ever you think just jot it down as reply. Take care. :P

1-in what way does it ripoff Ironman2 ? mortal combat ??? spiderman????
just because theres a blue disc like substance shining on his chest doesnt mean he ripped the whole ironman idea...if so all kinds of hollywood movies have ripped ironman and vice versa...
did u mention spiderman,since G.one did some backflip or something (thats the only possibility that comes in my mind) ?? if so,every action movie has ripped spiderman...same thing goes for your T2 and mortal combat..

2-ok its a valid point...it can be explained that they conducted an open funeral (not buried) in UK,where friends and family visit ,and later on they conduct cremation..

3-Are u refering to Raftaarein [train scene]...In my opinion ,i liked it very much..

4-Kareena never went after G.One,all she saw in G.One was her late husbands reflection..she felt connected to G.One only through this...It was very evident in the last scene,when kareena talks to her friend,she just expressed her sadness that Prateek lost G.One, she had finally got over the loss of her husband by the end of the story..
About the comedy,ya kind of agree...but i didn mind the comedy since it wasnt a very serious movie ,u could just sit back and relax..

5-Script was average..b

6-For a bollywood movie,Ra.One had some very good sets...

7-Special Effects were amazing...

Thank you so much for the comments.

I believe your blind supporting for the movie makes its a very biased opinion, or may be you need to grow up in terms of watching movies critically.

1- I will give you an e.g. Have you seen Terminator-2? There was scene somewhere in the middle when T-800 saw a kid crying and he could not understand it. In
the end, when John cried he rub his tears and said I now know why you cry. Remember anything like that? In Iron man - where the heart is inserted into the chest/ suit to keep him alive. Heart on chest, Remember anything? More..

2- OK, thanks for agreeing on this at least. So there are big inconsistencies.

3- Dude, you dont play such music in a serious fight scene- it was more like someone shouting with his balls being tightened in a vice grip. Sorry for my language, You focus more on the sound of the train and the wind - with some hard bass on the background music would be nice and not some loud annoying
classic oldies type song.

4- Do you think the toilet humours break the momentum of the movie? the audience is sad and full of pity for the dead protagonist and his family and suddenly
a slapstick comedy from the family was not welcoming. It makes you feel - what the...!! The jokes were not funny at all.

5- You dont have the time to explain things during a hell lose on death action scenes - Everyone understands what is going on. Have you seen Nolan's
scripts?? They are short and precise- very strong -and the actions explains the rest. I would suggest to go watch the ending narration of TDK on youtube and
feel the momentum of the movie when the narration goes..(Because sometimes the truth isn't good enough. Sometimes, people deserve more)..and my tears came
out.

6- Do you think a scifi action flick with a backgroung of chaiwala, tarbujwala is good. Is there any setting design done for the public places? They was no
art direction apart from the studio/ office they work in. The rest were all shot as a typical "as it is" bollywood sets.

7- Dude you need to grow up on special effects. There were some special effects which could have been done by a human or a stunt man- and they could have
cut down the costs.

I checked out your thread - and read the responses on your unbiased (I would called it "Biased") review. I can see that our friends have made a joker out of you on the thread. Please see my comments there too.

Trust me buddy, I should suggest that you go and see Tron (1983) or Blade Runner (1982), you will be amaxed with the level of details and heart & soul the Director and the FX teams have put in. We are still more than 30 years behind in making this type of movies.

I hate writing bad reviews and most of my reviews are positive on movies.

can i ask u one thing?

WHY ARE YOU COMPARING THE MOVIE TO HOLLYWOOD MOVIES? NOLAN? WHY?
did u compare 3 idiots,taare ZP,chak de etc too?
this is a bollywood movie..and if u compare ANY bollywood movies to the likes of hollywood ,indian movies dont stand much chance...compare the jewels of korean movies to their hollywood remakes and hollywood would be brought to its knees...

I went to see an Indian movie which boasted of great visual effects and i would compare ra.one to hollywood only in that dept.
The rest i compared to the other bollywood movies...

For an Indian movie,the script for Ra.One (a sci-fic) is more than satisfactory..The jokes (at times i do agree it became too gay) were desi,the songs desi ,the dialogues desi..

1-The iron-man comparison is too dumb...come on dude...other than the look, it doesnt work like the ironman heart...did u feel batman ripped off ironman?[rich ,orphan,gadget freak,superheroes yet have no powers etc]..i for one dont feel its a copy..because they both are different in many core features..just like that you cant just go ahead and say ra.one ripped ironman...

T2, ya right ,big deal...every freaking Indian movie may have some or the other scene "similar" to hollywood...
by the way did u feel matrix ripped terminator? [future ruled by machines,story of the ONE,death of the ONE in the hands of a machine ,cool black dress etc etc]..

3-now lets imagine that during the train scene , a dark and pumped up score is played...i bet u would have said it ripped the joker theme from TDK,or from some other movie..

4-a character that is built by the dead family member,talks similar to him,looks exactly like him and has super powers..and even though we(the viewers) were emotionally connected to Shekhar's death,im sure we all went to see G.One too,right? even i (who actually liked Shekhar) didnt mind G.One's entry..time did pass too..that Bhare Naina song clearly showed the family in mourning..

5-im a big fan of nolan,and dont need any introduction to the final narrative scene (i too nearly cried,not out of sadness but out of some kind of admiration for Batman).
But ,not everyone can be Nolan,and believe it or not there are people who HATE TDK and other Nolan movies in IMDB...

So theres a difference between peoples viewpoint,for me ra.one was great ,it fulfilled in music,art direction,visuals....the lowpoint was the acting from the females (kareena & Shahana) and a couple of dragging scenes and not so great direction...

7-Ra.One's visuals are hands down the best compared to ANY indian movie..

Ive seen both Tron and Blade Runner...Tron and its sequel wernt any good,but Blade is a great movie..

True we are lagging behind the giants but Ra.One was a good attempt..Just saying we are 30 years back of others and folding our hands and standing idle wont do much help..SRK atleast made a movie to shorten that gap..

Time for all of us to grow up....

Dude, no point on arguing with you! I will let you win. Ra. one is the greatest movie ever made. I hope it will represent India for its nomination in the Academy Best Picture. Also, I have heard some rumors in Nolan's FB webpage that he shall be directing Ra.Two starring SRK and Nicole Kidman. Nice!

However, always remember that: The North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Il died of a heart attack after watching a downloaded pirated DVDRip of Ra.One.

Hi Batman,

Hope my language is not offensive. There was a continuous photoshoot of SRK on train scene - unnecessarily too long - where they intend to show how great he is. It would have been better that if the shots were used for the ending scence.

Well...hmmm...SRK acting as a south indian was irritating. There were inconsistencies in the role as well - in that, SRK was like a typical south indian kanjoos traditional type father; but, during the launch of the game - he became again a cool dude. Probably, my left brain and right brain got confused so much with this movie: may be that's why Iam writing reviews like this one.

SRK acting has always been annoying in that it is pure exagerration of emotions. His voice is irritating due to the fact that it sounds like a goat/ horse beaten with a whip mercilessly. However, I still watch his movies with Karan Johar because they are commercially very pleasing to the eye - and the storylines are generally entertaining for one time watch. KKHTH and KHNA may be two movies I enjoyed.

Recalling, his marketting campaign to fool the public on the greatness of the movie, I think he is cheap for fooling his dying fans.

agree with you man!I enjoyed SRK's acting in Swades.That was one uninfluenced original character he portrayed ever.
By the way I found inconsistencies in SRk doing a game character.Was he supposed to be expressionless(as he belonged to a gaming world)or expressive,according to you?

IMHO, Batman, the game character has no life..so it has to be expressionless...

But, again, some unnecessary fart jokes - like the fight scenes at the airport was not called for - for such a role. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

Bollywood needs some seriousness - it is jumping the shark now.

Swades..I have not seen the full movie - it was a serious movie - about an educated IITian (which I myself am :)) went to work for NASA and came back to India for some reason. So, he has to act serious. Yes! from the trailer - his acting is good and I can see from the trailer that he was well disciplined by the Ashutosh G. However, here in Ra.One, in one of the premier promo at Dubai, Sharukh 's behavior towards Anubhav was rude and disrespectful. Check out in youtube!
