I think Salman gets the money b/c his steroid pumped body makes young indian guys gush over him--that's all. Otherwise, he makes Keanu Reeves look like Laurence Olivier. When the steroids get to his brain, his reign will end.
SRK, on the other hand, is this generation's (90s-00s) answer to Amitabh. He will wane eventually, just like Amitabh, until he finds a role that suits him. However, Amitabh was a man's man; SRK is a wuss--I can't stand it when he cries on film over stupid stuff(he looks like a spoiled brat who has been castrated), and at times, looks like the psychopathic killer who looks meek (like Dahmer). Not to say he's a bad actor, but he's definitely no Amitabh.
To answer your question, I think it definitely is SRK, but I think Indian cinema needs a real man as an model(like Amitabh, Jackie Shroff, and even Anil Kapoor) rather than these girlie pretty boys.
