What is the correct way to describe this religion?

I'm an atheist and don't really have an understanding of all the sub brands and fringe groups of US conservatives. I saw a review that referred to them as simply members of a radical church group but nothing more specific than that. Does anyone know what church or religion this movie depicts?

They are definitely fundamentalist, but I get the impression that they have their own brand and don't belong to a larger denomination. These groups are often started by one person with his own agenda who wants to be in control.

I think it's pretty much their own brand of Christianity, but not so much radical. One thing is clear, though, and it disgusted me. When it comes to their said religion, women are second class and are treated as such. Not allowed to speak their mind at all. That really ticked me off. I'm an atheist, as well, but of the Christian religions that I know, including my parents' Free Methodist religion, women are welcomed to speak what they feel.

I think that this is what really got to Corrine the most, not being allowed to express how she felt. Even with her husband, in the confines of her own home, she was quieted or even put down when she spoke of her feelings regarding her faith. That would disillusion anyone.
