Just saw the film...

...and I absolutely loved it. As a Christian, I have always been fascinated with the end times and the rapture. I really enjoyed this movie because not only did it have the message of the Gospel in it, but it was also action packed. My favorite part of the film was at the end when the rapture happened. I thought it was done very well. One of the best "rapture" scenes I have ever seen.

As a Christian, I enjoyed the film as well, but I also feel that the film had a few problems.

As I said in an earlier thread, the film could not quite seem to make its' mind up whether the primary function was to entertain or to evangelize. Some of the plot elements seemed somewhat strained as well. And while the point of view of the pre-Tribulation Rapture is the one that is presented here, that is not the only view among believers of when the Blessed Hope will occur. Some Christians feel that it will happen at the mid-point of the Great Tribulation, and others believe it will not take place until the end of the Period of Sorrows.

Again, my over-all impression of this film is good. However, it is not perfect, and so I'd give it a B+.

I'm asking just out of curiosity: how many rapture scenes have you seen?

Never be complete.

If you were asking me, I've just seen a couple at most. This film and one other. It was either the film A Thief in the Night, or A Distant Thunder. The clear primary intent of these films, made in the late 1970's or the early 1980's, if memory serves, was to evanglize. Jersalem Countdown, as I have said elsewhere on this board, could not make its' mind up whether its' primary function was evangelization or entertainment.

I still thought that JC was a fairly decent film though.

I agree to a certain point, I felt like it was trying to evangelize in an action film disguise, but it was not successful as either. It came off as a rather incompetent, fear-mongering, "Boo! beware of non-americans!" type of ridiculous, childish attempt. I have enjoyed many well-made films preaching various religions, I'm never bothered even if they are one-sided, as long as they are made well. This film was not. But it looked slick, I give you that.

I was asking the OP, not you, because he claimed "one of the best raptured scenes I have ever seen" so I assumed he must have seen a number of them.

I really did not see it in quite those terms. But you are as entitled to your view as anyone else is. You take care.
