Another Dreadful Hallmark Movie

This movie is the ultimate sappy chick flick. I got it from Netflix and the previews of other movies on the disk were all inspirational type stuff and I thought "uh oh". And then the "Hallmark Presents" was another red flag but, being a masochist, I decided to watch it anyway. This movie illustrates the patriachal structure of most religions, dominated by sour, humorless, bearded old men and the women to be used simply as incubators. How the adoptive Amish mother of the protagonist could accept her miserable life is beyond me. The real (birth) mother of the child, ostensibly wealthy, was also an annoyance driving into the humble Amish area in a chauffer driven stretch limousine. Come on! It was suggested that she was dying and wanted to see her daughter before her demise. I was sure that a "miracle" would occur to save her. The ending leaves viewers hanging. This dreck should have stayed on Lifetime where it belongs. Ugh!

Hit the nail on the head! I couldn't agree more. I was thinking the same thing as you and they definitely view women as child baring "things" that they can just use and marry whomever they please. I've seen documentaries about this as well and it's sickening to see the women stay and remain brainwashed by thinking they're respected. The ending was incredibly anticlimactic but that was pretty much expected after the first 15 minutes of horrible Amish accents.
