As good as ever?

Do you guys think the show has declined at all by this point? I don't think it's declined really. season 7 might not be its absolute best, but that's definitely not to say the show is in a decline yet.

I don't think the series has declined yet, it's as good as before season seven.

Absolutely not. Some episodes are better than others, but it's been that way since Season One. Every new season I'm nervous they'll change the show too much and I won't enjoy it anymore, but as the seasons go on, I only seem to enjoy the show more and more. It definitely has struck true throughout the whole series.

Season 3 still remains the pinnacle for me, but this has been a strong season. The 100th episode at the end of last season is a top contender for the best ever episode, and all the holiday stories have been top notch this season. It's really come into its own consistently IMO.

This current season has had a few "misses" -- i.e., some episodes that were just "eh".

However, the latest two episodes (the Quirkducers and The Last Gingerbread House on the Left) have been two classically good episodes.

Season 7 is one of the best seasons of Bob's Burgers.

The first two season are elite, imo. Bed & Breakfast, Human Fresh, Crawl Space, etc... those I put on almost every night before bed. The following seasons are great, but the number of elite episodes in each season has declined for sure. But I don't want to sound like Im complaining, because I love them all except maybe a handful. But in 30 years when I want to watch some Bob's Burgers, it will be from seasons 1-3.

I do think the series has hit its point of 'diminishing returns'. For me season 2, 3 and 4 were absolutely near perfection. Season 5 was up there, but I think the previous seasons were just more memorable. this season I am really noticing a shift in tone; its subtle, but its there. I might classify it in terms of a fine wine aging, flavors maturing, but ultimately I think its losing a bit of its earlier season charm. I particularly see it in Louise's behavior; I think some of it may have to do with the actors becoming more comfortable with their characters, and maybe the loss of freshness in the roles has made them kind of fall into a more comfortable pattern, but I find she (and Gene to an extent) have lost a bit of that fire that made them so hilarious in earlier season.

In terms of the actual quality of writing and dialogue, I think its still as snappy and clever as ever, but I just can't shake this feeling that there's a bit of spark missing in the performances. Just watch an episode like Topsy (still my all time favorite) and then compare and contrast the kids' behaviors with a more recent episode and you'll see what I mean.
