The highs and lows of 'Rogue River'

I must admit that I don't mind horror movies. This one is your usual fare, with seemingly nice, helpful people who may not be so, and a female running around trying to defy logic. It seemed that the movie promised so much and could have been a great deal more of a decent story except for the possible deterioration of the plot as the film progressed. Possibly, there were some good scenes, but not enough of them for a good edge-of-seat experience for the dedicated horror buff. Better luck next time, maybe!

I have to agree with you. There was so much promise at the start and I found myself interested in this movie and then it descended into the usual horror/torture stuff and I buzzed it on a bit. It is a pity really because there was potential there for a decent horror/thriller, but the plot just lost focus and
with her brother thrown into the mix, it just became ridiculous. It's a shame.

My thoughts exactly. I thought it started off well and I was looking forward to the suspense, but everything just came together too fast. They needed to have extended it and have given the story more development. The movie could have been just awesome with more development and a better script. And another thing....

****SPOILER*********

I think it would have worked better if the couple were man/wife, not brother/sister. The same can be said for the guy Mara rescued from the box.

*** Spoilers Warning ***

I think they also needed to expand upon the couple especially the woman. There was something in the back of my mind almost wanting them to be capturing people to try and find the right blood type for a ritual to "cure" her cancer. They should have showed that they took over that house and it wasn't really theirs. I just hoping for a bit more plot development and twists.

**MORE SPOILERS!**

I agree with mysticals - I was waiting for something to come out about the crazy sister thinking taking life energy/blood would cure her cancer.

Was she even getting chemo-therapy? I know she was missing hair but the way she talked about Jon taking care of her since she was a little girl leads me to assume they lived their lives away from civilization. I can't picture her going into town and seeing a doctor.

I loved when Jon was in his underwear watching Mara sleep. So unnerving! I love Bill Moseley and the movie had so much creepy potential but I agree with others; it just didn't deliver.

The movie started off promising, but went downhill faster than Jean-Claude Killy.

There were so many WTF moments that cropped up that I don't know where to begin so I won't.

I hate when writers insult the intelligence of the audience thinking we will lap up any stupid, lazy plot contrivance.
