There are so many parallels. L.R.H.'s addiction to Kool cigarettes, the billion year contract, the repetative auditing and the disconnection/discarding of devotees no longer useful to his cause.
Why didn't they just name it The Scientology Story?

...because it's not. Sure, there are some parallels, but the same can be said about any film involving a cult. This particular story is more about the individual as opposed to the group.
