Does anyone struggle taking in horror mixed with comedy?

Clearly this is popular, and I enjoy the genres separately. But I can't be horrified and enjoy laughing at the same time. I am unable to mix extreme violence with humor. I must be wired funny... I also don't get toilet humor.

I can take in a comedy that is also a horror, but not horror that is also a comedy. By that I mean that I like movies like Bad Taste, Evil Dead or Zombieland for their comedic value without being bothered by the horror.
But I can't really enjoy a horror that is also funny because fun kills the horror for me and if it's not funny enough to enjoy it as a comedy then there's nothing to enjoy.

For example Cabin in the Woods. It tries to be a mystery, adventure, action, satire and that for me ruins the horror while at the same time it isn't really laughter-inducing. Yeah, "let's split up". Haha. I loudly exhaled.

Nah

If the execution is weak, then perhaps. But generally speaking, no. (The likes of Evil Dead II & Shaun of the Dead made me appreciate more than ever the mixture of these two seemingly unrelated genres — when they’re effectively/masterfully done, that is.) That being said, I must say that while I’m not wired like you, I can oddly see where you’re coming from. At any rate, the Zombieland movies are a blast.

I like the mix of violence/gore and comedy. But I don't think I've ever seen horror mixed with comedy (except for the 'Scary Movie' films). Zombies are not scary, therefore I don't classify zombie movies as horror.

This movie is more of a comedy than a horror. It doesn't have horror elements in it. Just stupid zombies.

I VERY MUCH ENJOY THE MIX...A CHILD OF THE 80S...THE TWO HAVE GONE TOGETHER SINCE I CAN REMEMBER...

Nah, man, I'm a Tarantino aficionado: horrific gore mixed with comedic elements is my jam! But then I grew up on extreme violence/farcical violence on telly from the cradle: Roadrunner v Wile E. Coyote...

reply

No. I like other horror comedies such as Dracula Dead and Loving it, Young Frankenstein, the original Invisible Man, and Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein.

This is exactly how I am.
