Man this guy SUCKS!!!

How painful was that howlingly bad routine by Williams- his jokes were as out of shape as he was. Watching him wheeze and sweat and do the same tortured two character dialog with himself has been stale for over a decade. The energy is gone, the humor has no edge but the audienced tolerated him like a beloved uncle telling the same holiday jokes he told 20 years ago. He went from insightful to insipid some time back. He self destructed alright. Its gotta be tough for the faithful to try and pretend he's still that sharp cutting edge hipster instead of the pathetic way over the hill heavy handed comic he's become. Can you say Uncle Miltie?

Hey pal Hannah rocks. Genius!

Learning from personal experience of showing other people the Broadway DVD, the general public can be split up into 2 categories

Absolutely LOVE him - 50%
Absolutely HATE him - 50%

I don't know, I can't really find anyone who's thinks that Williams is "so n so", it's always 1 of those 2 categories

As usual, all comes back to one's own type of humor. I know some people who love Eddie Murphy's childish type of standup comedy, yet they can't stand Williams...and vise versa

reply

Yep, just like mindphaze says, I, on the contrary, LOVED the show!

did Robin's comedic genius get left on the plane? this show sucked ass, he was out of touch, off hand and so unfunny and unlikeable, I couldn't even stomach or relate to anything he was saying, it was like he died all of sudden right before the show, was the show a long imitation of Dane Cook? I mean, wtf, really, where was he the whole time? Bring back the Robin Williams we loved on Mrs. Doubtfire, please.

Sheriff Joe came to Arizona to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and he's all out of bubblegum

Tragic response in accepting that the game was up. Terrible thing to do to his family. I hope he left an explanation, he's going to have a lot of angry relatives as millions of fans do bittersweet re-runs of the early films. WMD would only be a reminder of how far he had fallen with the desperation setting in.

You're a genuine loser to come back here after almost 5 years to respond to you're own post.

Not only to reply but to EDIT the subject line.
True scum.

Dark humor Mer, Robin would have approved.

reply

There is not one stitch of humor in you or in what you said.

If you believe there is, then you need to do some research on the definition of comedy.

Robin would have tolerantly smiled at you, nodded slightly to recognize your humanity, then looked away casually to something that mattered.

I could only to hope to be as kind. You certainly wouldn't deserve it.

...and Mr. Williams humor was pretty much threadbare for the past dozen years with his Weapons stand-up, a gross painful reminder of how funny he was in his energetic youth but the parade had gone by. I may be indelicate in my assessment at this time but I was only cajoled by another poster to revisit it.

You on the other hand should take your head out of the clouds with your Mr. Wonderful pronouncements. Williams said cruel and vicious things about conservatives and Republicans (some of which I found quite funny) with little love behind it but I realize it comes with the territory and could easily role with it. Of course those 'Pubs are bad, bad, bad folks so the mean stuff is acceptable. Love should be all around scoey, even for those we disagree with and find distasteful but it remains a world of give and take, love and hate and without it Williams (along with most stand-ups) would have no platform to expound upon.

Once again Williams was kind, funny, generous and special to many but he was also mean spirited, duplicitous, devious and disloyal like a great segment of our population as well, including me.

Yes, OP is truly a hateful person. Maybe he's a member of the Westboro Baptist Church?

5 days Einstein, not five years. Guess that makes you a winner sjs. I was responding to a charge made 5 days ago and put things in perspective. I was merely replying to a day old accusation. My review of Weapons was enough to sum up his his washed up superstar status back then. He and I both saw this coming.

I'm going to cringe inside at this troll's private inward collapse and do, from now on, the responsible thing, which is to ignore it.

... but a lot closer to the truth. I feel sorry for Williams' and his kids ( the wife is another story) but remain resolute about how tapped out he was (even well before 99)and the desperate measure he took was helped along by a flagging career and the glaring fact "The Comic Genius" had nothing left in the tank. Robin Williams was funny, kind, enormously popular and generous but he was also a has been with a huge marquee name and nothing new to say. Watching Williams since his Orc days am I saddened and shocked by his actions? Yes. Am I surprised, no. Williams was always on for his audience cameras and interviewers. Alone in that room he took stock and he did not like what he saw all alone.

Adios muchacho.

It's official, st-shot, you're a worthless troll with no friends and nothing important or worthwhile to say.

Get some help for your own mental health issues before it's too late.

Using Robin's death to riff off for your insensitive comments further cements you in a very sad, dark place.

I pity you.

Sco, I fear it may be you that needs the therapy as you shift from post to post, going from patronizing sympathy to raging harridan.

It also might be interpreted as a Williams sum-up.

"no friends" Williams sounds like he had no close ones to his real self (although his lovely wife called him her best friend while failing to check in on her "best friend" for 14 hours) which he never exposed to begin with. As some club manager put it I knew Williams for 35 years and I still don't know who he is.

"Nothing important or worthwhile to say" Robbie's last dozen films nothing special in any way, the abominable stand-up, a picture perfect display of when someone needs to hang up the cleats.

"Get some help for your mental health issues before it is too late." See headlines one week ago.

I don't expect thanks for getting you out of your comfort zone and making a mockery of your Reader's Digest motto but objective observation often shines light into dark areas that subjective myopia fails to see.

No charge, scoey, peace be with you.

I've seen almost all of his stand up specials and i have to say 'Weapons Of Self Destruction' was his best.

I think youre just a troll.
