dress code

Im surprised to see a lot of guest with normal clothes for a wedding. I understand country style parties not being thaaaat formal, but still...
Even the brides they always go so under dressed. Maybe weddings in Mexico are different, here you always go very formal

The person inviting you to their event determines the dress code and people generally know based on the invite and instructions.

"Normal" clothes are what Americans call casual clothes sometimes. Jeans and t-shirts, things like that. Normal, everyday wear.

They wear very casual dresses instead of evening gowns. As a guest you are supposed to wear your best clothes. In some programs I even saw men in polos! Thats what surprises me a lot

I bet some of these chicks say casual for dress code. Like if your wedding is in a barn or on the beach or something...it makes sense. Or if it's one of those sorority/college type weddings. And of course some brides have told everyone to wear costumes since it was Halloween.

In tonights episode one bride was wearing shorts for a christmas themed wedding. Really?!?! Still dont get it!!

In America, long formal ball gowns and white tie and tails is only proper for weddings occurring at or after 7 pm at night. And even then, the invitation should indicate "Formal Wear" or "Black Tie" (a little less formal than white tie but still requires tuxedoes and long gowns for women). Formalwear is very rare at weddings in America except among the top elite classes; most average Americans don't really own any truly formal wear. However, I don't think it's appropriate to show up in shorts, tank tops and flip-flops, even at a beach wedding. I guess it depends on how well you know the bride.

Personally, I feel like wearing any type of evening gown or dress fancier than what most of the guest wear would take attention away from the bride, and groom (unless you're a bridesmaid/groomsman) same for the quys, just a simple suit and tie for the male guests is good. Save going all out for your own wedding.

Obviously the brides don't know, if they have to pull the top of their dress up and the bottom down they should have left it at the store.

I agree. Never buy a dress without actually SITTING DOWN in it.
