Didn't seem like the best strategy


First off, let me just say I was impressed by the professionalism our soldiers displayed. It was a very difficult situation and they did their best.

That said, I don't think the soldiers we saw on the ground were given the best strategy. The point was to hold the area to build a road? For what? The Afghans in that valley didn't want our help. They live in abject poverty, but known no better. We can't save them.

I support our mission in Afghanistan, but this lonely outpost, deep in the middle of nothing, didn't seem like the best use of our resources.
