15 things horror movies have taught us about buying a new house

15 Horror Cliches and Houses

If it's priced to sell, it's foundation is in hell.
If there's a chandelier, it's gonna fall on someone at some point in the movie and likely just miss them.
If it has all its original fixtures, it means no one's lived in it long enough to need to replace them.
If there's a strange noise and you find a hole outside in the roof where tiny birds live, it's likely ghosts using the birds to mask their sound, but you'll investigate it anyway, in the dark, by yourself.
A ghost will always try to seduce you
Ghost bodies move slow, ghost heads move very quickly.
A 1980's work music video montage is a bad sign.
Family pets are the first to know, then kids
Young daughters are always somehow connected to the ghost
Physical interaction with a flashback
The house will burn during the climax
Seances just make ghosts angry
Male leads always go crazy
Houses don't let you leave
The soundtrack theme will always be in a minor key

Honorable mention: Kid always does dark themed drawings in pencil or crayon that the teacher brings to the attention of the mother.

Although not many of these turned up in the movie. (Maybe the first one)

Haha! but alas you are wrong. There were the daughters who were connected to the ghost one of whom drew spooky pictures, the ghost moved slowly although the head didn't jerk, there was a mysterious hole and the house came with original fixtures.

20) Ghosts need a mirrored bathroom cupboard door to be opened and closed in order to appear in our world
21) If a ghost wants to appear down stairs they have to wait for someone to open and close a refrigerator door
22) If somebody in the household tells you that they have just seen someone unexpected upstairs always assume that they are stressed or upset and then patronise them. Never entertain the notion that someone actually is walking around upstairs.
23) Ghosts never just write down on a bit of paper what their problem is, they have to waist everyone's time by going all cryptic and angry - which invariably means someone's got to traipse down to the library.
24) Children are brilliant at drawing scary ghost pictures.
25) There are a plethora of crap search engines in B Movie world... 'Search Me', 'Go Search', 'Net Finder'...
25a) The same can be said for email applications

To be fair to the OP they did say it was things they'd learnt from horror films involving houses, not just SITW.

23 made me laugh ...so true.

26) The dreaded musical box. Been dormant for decades but when the new occupants see it, up pops the little ballerina...tinkle tinkle tinkle.
