She chooses the stairs (spoiler)

The mother chooses the stairs to fight with the ghost inside her daughters body? Has she never watched the Exorcist or any possession movie? Plus, not a good idea to confront the ghost to begin with without some help.

I thought I was the only one who noticed the complete absurdity in the mother deciding to handle the confrontation with her daughter on the stairwell right where the ghost could shove her down the entire flight of stairs. ROFL!!! That had to be the most glaringly idiotic horror film moment in a long time.

One would think she might have a weapon in hand, some back up, but brilliant, sensible mom waits to reveal she knows what's going and prepare for battle right on the top of the stairwell. Mind you, in a position where the ghost was safe from being pushed down and she was the one at the top of the stairs. Idiot! lol!

Yea, the mother is a complete dimwit. To boot, she has a youngest daughter still to care for and if something happens to her that youngest daughter will not only no longer have a father in her life but no mother either. So to take all that on and MORONICALLY MOOOOOOOOOOOOOORONICALLY on the freaking stairwell as you noted... just baffled me all to hell.

Warning Spoilers: ....... We were saying the same thing ! Why not just beg the possessed daughter to push you down the stairs or hand her a knife to stab you with too. A very stupid scene for sure. And beats me how the daughter could have survived that fall....looked like something out of an old Benny Hill skit where they throw a dummy off the cliff, it hits the ground hard, and then the actor replaces the dummy surviving with a few bruises. I know she didn't look like a dummy, just trying to make a point of how impossible that was to survive.
