Phenomenal

I just saw this film at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and was expecting little. I knew going in it is a drama and not a thriller and that it was about an unpleasant event. I was expecting to become utterly depressed and bored. Instead, I saw a movie that was brilliantly crafted, acted and put together that held my attention till the end. If the likes of Winter's Bone can be nominated and win awards, I would not be surprised to see this and many of the performances in it vying for BAFTAs. Great film if you like drama.

Really "liked" this movie, although that is not and appropriate description. Thought Winter's Bones was brilliant.

Wow. I think this is one of my five favourite movies of all time. What a wonderfully written script. I liked how I expected certain scenes to go a certain way and then something entirely different happened. One example of this is when Cindy and her mother are in Cindy's apartment and her mother says something wrong and I waited for Cindy to go into full-on verbal argument mode. But instead she paused, turned around and looked at her mother and said, "my baby just died!" There were a lot of moments like this where I appreciated the originality within the story.

Jeremy Piven reminded me that he is a great dramatic actor. I am so tired of him playing the smarmy sleazeball character. He deserves more quality roles worthy of his talent.

And the cinematography...stunning! The look of the film is enough to make me recommend it. But on top of that, there is a great story, wonderful acting and very smart directing. I love this movie!!!

It's a complete rip-off of Snow Angels and The Sweet Hereafter, both of which are vastly superior films.

I agree it was very good.

Paul Wayment. He actually had this happen to him. He left his son in his truck to go watch deer and his son got out and froze to death. In the end, after the trail he killed himself. So it really did happen almost exactly like this movie.
