Amish being on a pedestal

http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=316371&page=1

I do respect the Amish, but I hate how most Americans think or act like they are the perfect society. Like any society, they do have the bad part of their own society. Read the article (link above) about Mary Byler, an Amish girl who was was rape by her brothers and abused by her stepfather. And from the Amish church, the only punishment the brother recieved was being banned from church activities for six weeks.

I think that anybody who takes the time to truly observe them (or any social group, for that matter), they'd realize that the Amish are made up of good people, bad people, flexible and inflexible people, hard core religious people and those who question everything. And of course, there are many other members who fall somewhere in the middle of each of those extremes. Every single religion or group of humans that you meet are like that. Nobody can escape it.
