I always thought it was laughable that America claimed to have more freedom than Russia or to have freedom for everyone when millions of Americans suffered under the tyranical South.
The Russians knew America's talk of freedom was phony when it got the reports of the South.
and the film exposed how Pres. Kennedy just wanted to appease the white, "Democratic" Southern voters.
shareThe freedom was evident in the fact that civil disobedience and anti government speeches could CHANGE things. America never has nor will ever be perfect. Hopefully, we'll never lose our desire to work toward that end. And if you think the USSR offered that kind of promise, we'll have to agree to disagree.
