Cancelled - but not dead yet...

From the official Facebook site:

"Hey Toddies, as the smart, savvy and awesome fans that you are, we wanted to let you in on a little inside scoop about the future of Todd & the Book of Pure Evil.

The good news is that we're working on putting together Season 3 because we all love the show so much, and NEED to know what happens next. The not-so-good news is that our lead broadcaster SPACE has decided not to renew the show, because their TV ratings weren't what they had hoped for (all you torrenters bow your heads in shame).

But that's not the end of Todd! Let's put our collective energies together and will a third season. With YOUR help we can save Todd! (and possibly the world)."

DAMN IT...

reply

If for example they'd start a kickstarter campaign... I'm in... no doubt! But it's gonna be extremely tough to get the money that is needed to make a whole season (games and technology works great there, but everything else is very difficult). Best would be if for example SyFy gave it a chance... or Netflix... no idea :-/

I have started a petition to save the show! PLEASE sign it at http://www.change.org/petitions/space-channel-bring-back-todd-the-book-of-pure-evil An online petition is not enough. I think it would be great if we mailed the network our own handmade mini Books of Pure Evil along with letters. Then they will know how serious we are! Also, we should dress up as the characters and protest outside the station!

reply

Kickstarter would be a great idea! I think FearNET should definitely pick up the show.

You know, you could have saved this awesome program if you had the Book of Pure Evil ...

House and Gibbs are my role models!!!

CRAP!!

Just heard the news on tonights INNERSPACE show on SPACE while channel flipping.

Ugggggh... Now that SGU, Caprica & TODD are now gone, there is NOTHING left on SPACE that I watch. Seriously... I never got a taste for Santuary, B. Human, and all the ghost/vampire crap. Everything else is simply Star Trek & Stargate reruns practically 24-7. It has literally become as bad as the US Siffy channel... just without the wrestling.

Wow!..That is hard to believe. For years SPACE was was my go to channel. It had my most favourite must see programs. Now, I totally forget the channel actually exists. How times change!

Oh well... Thanks for the memories TODD!

I suppose the only hope for it now is that it can develop enough of a LATE following in the US, to generate at least a "shortened" season 3?? to give some closure to it all?? Maybe some kind of direct to video arrangement??

Im so going to miss not having another "High School" musical episode!
:(

Don't reenact scenes from Platoon with Charile Sheen!!

reply

Yes, I also want a new musical episode :). Those were fun !!!

I'm optimistic that they can pull something off. A shortened seasons, a movie... everything seems possible! They seem to be enthusiastic enough to write something so I'm pretty sure they'll find a way to make it. But I want the show to go on so it would be important to find a new network...

reply

The Comedy Network airs reruns, maybe they could pick up the show? I really hope it gets renewed, at least just enough wrap up the story.

What about FEARnet? Maybe they'll buy it and air a third season? Since they've started airing season 1 and 2 I am now finally able to watch the show--which I LOVE! I'll be sad if it doesn't come back one way or another...

FEARnet sounds interesting. Hope Todd & the book of pure evil is doing well there and maybe they think about this option, who knows. It's only a tiny hope, but we'll see how it goes.

its true that the space channel has become a joke. Wtf is up with all these retarded reality shows where people buy/make stuff?! What happened to stories and adventure?

Who the hell cares how cheap some collector can get some collectables and then sell them. I dont give a *beep* about how monsters are made on screen. If i wanted that i would watch a discovery channel documentary.

Its just obvious that since reality tv costs pennies on the dollar to create compared to good shows, they require less of a return (ratings, etc). Since there are usually a fair amount of invalids who may accidentally use the sci-fi channel to expand their reality tv knowledge, they are here to stay. Just look at just about every other channel that used to have watchable shows. Theres no adventure anyhmore, you're either watching all the boring stuff before an actual show (the creation of it) or you are watching retards be retards (yay jersey shore!)

i havent watched tv in so long. Back in the day commercial breaks were a time to grab a drink or take a piss, now they are deterrents for the show. I'm not gonna wait 3 minutes to come back to a show i dont even want to see.

reply

"because their TV ratings weren't what they had hoped for (all you torrenters bow your heads in shame). "

I'd like to know how 'all us torrenters' affect their ratings. Is every minute of my TV usage monitored? Do I secretly have some involvement in the Nielsen's Rating System that I'm not aware of? As far as I'm aware rating are taken from the NRS & then extrapolated based on population. So the only way I see torrents having an effect on ratings is if NRS people choose to torrent instead of watching on TV. I really like the show but find it quite sad to put blame on torrents for poor ratings. I really do hope the show comes back though.

"I'd like to know how 'all us torrenters' affect their ratings."

You're right, it doesn't. I'm not sure how serious they mean that accusation. But it's not really smart to throw that at the fans.

reply

Nielsen people can always lie too. I lied the *beep* outta my 1-month Nielsen experience.

This sucks. There is an audience for this kind of show, but there was no advertising at ALL! I never even heard about it until it was offhandedly mentioned in an article on CNN.com, after which I bought the DVDs of both seasons and became instantly hooked. This sucks.

reply

I hadn't even heard of this until five minutes ago when a friend in Los Angeles told me about it -- and I live in Toronto, Canada!

i try to do my part! i watch constantly on fearNET, which includeds watching it on demand (which means uncut aewsomeness) over and over, and i also bought season 1 off itunes!

that sucks that it was cancelled...that was seriously one of the better shows out there..nothing like it in the states.

Even more proof that SPACE network are a bunch of idjits....The show just won another award the other day. This is a show that keeps winning awards even after it was canceled. Can everyone in Canada boycott SPACE and stop watching that network.

I don't have SPACE and I first heard about this show about a week before season 2 started. Only choice I had at the time was torrents. I know, torrents are bad, but I had no choice. But I got addicted. So when the dvd was re-released for season 1 I ordered mine and watched the entire thing all over again. But when the season 2 started up I had to rely on torrents again cuz I couldn't wait to find out what happened. But I did my part and ordered the season 2 dvd when it came out. Paid about $36 for it (wasn't available anywhere else for less at the time) but it was worth it.

I know that if season 3 had been made I just couldn't wait to get my hands on the dvd set. I doubt they'll ever show up on blu-ray but if it does, I'm buying it too.
