The Locksmith (review)

The idea of a work release inmate working as a locksmith presents some interesting directions for comic relief. In this case, it comes in the form of a poorly conceived love story that develops over the course of a single day. The premise leaves me scratching my head. The film lacks believability, which is compounded with weak dialogue and flat characters. My full review of this dumb film can be found at:

He was on work release to be the Clerk... they stated that in the middle of the movie..when they Hispanic guy was complaining about how he wasn't supposed to let him go out on calls. Starbucks doesn't call up Prisons asking for work-released inmates..so I can see how he'd end up there. And we find out, he may not be that much of a crook anyhow.

Love can happen in less than 30 minutes..it can strike like lightning..or can take 10's or 20's of ruthless stalking years.

The speech from the actors is sub-par, but enjoyable. At least they didnt' try to act-up any of the scenes. The main character did a great job of showing frustration and excitement.

I think the movie is well executed.

I actually talk about how he ended up working as a locksmith in my full review. While people can fall in love in a short period of time, this film did not make it believable. First of all, Margo is freaking out over her suspicions regarding Charles. If she was that in love, it is unlikely that she would fall in love so easily with someone else. Add to that the lack of chemistry and weak execution and it just doesn't add up.

I actually like the idea that a work release inmate is working as a locksmith. That concept gives you plenty to work with. Instead, it seems the film forced the issue rather than allowing things to develop more naturally.

Thanks for commenting. Take a look at the full review for more depth!
