Do you think it deserves the current rating (8.4) and be on Top250?

I don't hesitate to say this is Brazilian's best movie togheter with Cidade de Deus, both are 10/10-grade! So I ask you, movie-lovers and critics, is Tropa de Elite 2 worth of Top250?
I think the direction is unique of José Padilha and can't be compared, so as an element of uniqueness, good direction, good plot, good characters, and good idea, I think this movie can't miss the Top list and its rating can't be lowered more than 8.3, it's current is far for me!

I think it does deserve to be there. Unfortunately, this movie doesn't have much exposure outside of Brazil(yet). I saw it at a film festival in the US and I was blown away. I think it could make an appearance on the top 250 once more votes start coming in.

Why do people still care about a top 250 list?

True, the Top 250 is not a seal of quality or anything like that, but personally, if I ever thought back to the 250 best movies I have seen, this would easily enter the Top 30, at least. Great movie, and since I am a brazilian, I can say that, while it is not 100% accurate (it's fiction, after all), it does not go over the top in the way it depicts the huge social problems of my country.

Easily one of the very best movies I've ever seen and probably one of the top 5 movies I've seen in my entire life. It more than deserves to be in the top 250.

In some ways it reminded me a lot of a less-superhero version of The Dark Knight -- all the political corruption, the villains were part of the "good guys" and the guy trying to make a difference had to go over and beyond the requirements of the law to do so. Great stuff.

I thought it was a cracking film and rated it 9, but generally most films start out with a high rating as fans of the genre and series go to see it, but then decrease some what as the wider audience watches it. The 100,000 vote threshold is when I would consider a films rating to be final. It will probably end up with a 8.1 or 8.0 rating.

Honestly, I thought it was good, but it could have been better. Sometimes it was hard to follow, personally. I gave it a 7.

Nope, wasn't too impressed with it. It was well made for sure, but it simply wasn't that entertaining or interesting. I felt it was overly long and at times how the story was told was poorly handled. There were definite pacing problems as well.

I completely disagree, this movie for me is very similar to movies like Traffic or Syriana.

However while I found myself at times, lost or straining to keep up with the overload of information in movies like Syriana (loved it none the less) In this movie I thought the pacing and editing was fantastic, not a single dull moment for me. Such great tense buildups,

The scene near the end when he arrests the government official outside his own home and threatens him. Then punches him repeatedly, just such an intense scene.

Overall a class movie.

You know what the Queen said? If I had balls, I'd be King.

Yes it deserves its high rating - the plot is well made and is a good social commentary about not just Brazil, but all human nature at its most basic.

Im known as being tough on movies but this was awesome. I watched on netflix expecting a cheezy action movie but I got a crime drama the likes of Goodfellas and Scarface. I put it as a 9/10 which i never do.

I gave it a 4. Loved the first one, but this got too boring with all the politics and drama.

I basically hate action movies and like cerebral movies.

Strangely enough, this is the 1st instance where I liked the action movie (#1) over the cerebral one (this one).

I'd give the first one a very solid 8 and this one a 7.
