This is some of the best acting I've ever seen.

This really is a great show.

The one thing I love most about it, is that there is nothing supernatural about the characters and events.(so far)

I disagree. Most of the acting is pretty mediocre. Still enjoy the series though.

Yeah the acting isn't anything special, IMO. But then they generally go for no name actors (and for a reason, too).

Xander Berkeley is good, though.

reply

You mean because it doesn't look like they're acting? That's what good acting is: invisible.

I guess you think good acting is waving your hands and shouting a lot.

reply

Oh, okay. You're right.

I agree with the OP - the acting was top notch.

reply

I'm surprised at the responses. I'm moved in almost every scene. It's 100% portrayal of the actors.

It's all very believable. It's quite... tantalizing to not know who or what The Man is.

The only one I don't quite believe is Jenny and Richard.

reply

Uh, the guy has a magic book! Sounds pretty supernatural to me.

But yeah, the acting is great. As it has to be. If you make a show were all people do is sit around and talk, the acting is the only thing that holds your attention.

reply

Nothing supernatural? One of the characters comes back from the dead!

reply

But that would be impossible. It was just a mistake!

reply

As have you, with each reincarnation. You lay down one body and pick up another.

reply

Raising someone from the dead isn't supernatural huh?

With the possible exception of the Man and Doris, all the characters are normal, typical, americans. Most important is that their tasks, at times the most horrible of sins, are ones they agree to do without coercion. Invariably, they convince themselves that the ends justifies the means.

This can be disturbing, since americans rarely think of themselves as child killers, terrorist bombers, bank robbers, et al. But, as the Man always reminds them, whether you do the task or not is entirely your choice. All the Man does is offer you a mirror reflecting the desires of your own dark soul.
