My explanation of this series

The Man and Doris are obviously from some other realm... The Man stole, or somehow came by, this book which grants him knowledge of cause-and-effect that a normal man doesn't have.

1. Remember that time when you found 20 bucks after leaving the grocery store? Yeah, well, what if you found the money BECAUSE you went to the grocery store? Our logic doesn't really allow this sort of thinking, but from a diferent perspective, it might make sense. From the perspective of a being from a different world or dimension, for instance. Like, The Man.

2. It appears the book has all such possibilities somehow written in it. Need 20 bucks? Go to a grocery store. Need your father to come back? Find a missing person. Seemingly unconnected, but part of a possible greater logical design of the universe.

3. Doris is the same race as The Man. They obviously hail from a world different/higher/parallel to our own. She threatens him by saying she will call "Them". This, if nothing else, proves that she and The Man share some knowledge we don't. This is why I believe it to be obvious they are connected. Secondly, "They" might be (this is purely my theory) some sort of authority that the Man stole the book from. If you wanna put this in lame traditional terms: He's a demon who stole the book from the Devil. Replace 'demon' and 'Devil' with any word you think fits.

4. He is always asking for details and emotions, and even wished to understand people better. This leads us to believe he is not human, but something else.

What are your opinions?

I agree with point 4. Other than that, everything else is too abstract at the moment to draw any legitimate theories, in my opinion.

Having said that, it's good that people are doing so, meaning the show is making people think about a greater interpretation.

In a way it reminds me of the ascended beings in the Stargate TV series. A few of them made it back to the lower rhelms in various forms and reeked havoc. This show may have been inspired by the Season 8 "Threads" episode.

Doesn't really explain bringing back the dead, or the ability to wipe all Muslims from the face of the earth. At one point he even implies it would be possible to make it so that they never even existed.
