What would you wish for?

What would you wish for? What do you think your task would be? Do you think you would go through with it? What challenges do you think you might face when carrying out your tasks? If the task was something you view as morally wrong do you think you would be able to live with yourself after?

reply

I'd do like Jack but, end all forms of religion for good!
The task would probably be something nigh-impossibly difficult to accomplish.
Drastic you think? Imagine no religion.

That's funny, an atheist drinking the kool-aid. "Those people" have political reasons to fight against US imperialism and economic warfare against their homelands. They feel oppressed, exploited, their dictators supported and corrupted by money from the west. The world trade isn't a random target. It's not just a symbol for US economy, but also a strike against the business elite. People who work in the world trade center are the rich and powerful, not some innocent scrubs.

But your nations propaganda has made you believe that all they want is to destroy what is different, kill the unbeliever, hate your freedoms, that they are so stupid and ignorant to not want anything like freedom and democracy for themselves?

They are fighting for political reasons. Religion colors their actions, their culture and warfare tactics, but the have legitimate grievances. If more people could look behind the obvious propaganda, maybe diplomatic solutions and economic fairness could be reached. Just like you paint a whole race as stupid and ignorant and refuse to look beyond superficial cultural differences, they would just adopt a different kind of ideology and fanaticism like national socialism or communism or patriotism to fight for their goals. Maybe they wouldn't blow themselves up but they sure as hell wouldn't take it lying down either if they all were atheists.

So what would I wish for? The symbolic eradication of the kool-aid, the self deceit. For humans to be intelligent enough to understand the world around them.

I know exactly what I'd want, and I wouldn't have any moral concern or regrets.

I imagine it would be something very difficult to complete, and I would be worried of failing (or succeeding) and getting caught if the task included law breaking. I'd rather it be an all or nothing deal, wherein I succeed I get what I want, I fail and I die. But again, I assume "the deal" would know this and thus make it harder for me.

I would wish to not have any more pain. Physical pain. I live in pain everyday of my life. It prevents me from being able to do so much. But in turn, I'm sure the cost would be to inflict pain on someone else. And I could not trade the two. Similar to Melody, I would remain in pain rather than make someone else live that way in my place. So I assume I would fail at my task.
