Why is every female victim'beautiful'?

Every time the female victim is young, or even young-ish, Paula Zahn repeatedly refers to her as beautiful. I'm sure the grieving family thinks so, but let's face it, most of us are not beautiful, and one's beauty shouldn't really an issue on this show. An innocent person is brutally murdered or kidnaped or raped or whatever, why do we care what she looks like? And why are constantly talking about it?

Her main audience is older white females who she want to think of themselves in that situation. Notice that all the men that are suspects are sinister looking.

plus every female victim "lights up a room" --- I don't know anyone who lights up a room when they walk in

I posted similar comments on the board for another Investigation ID show. The victims (women and men) are often described beautiful or handsome when they clearly ate not that attractive. I often thought maybe it was just me - maybe I'm too picky. I also very annoyed by the repetitive descriptions of a victim by family and friends as "She lit up the room when she entered it", "Her smile lit up the room", or "Heads turned and people were drawn to her when she entered a room". I understand these are the loved ones, but those descriptions are old and tired. Furthermore, If one was to believe that these descriptions were accurate then why is it I've never experienced the lighting up of a room when a person entered it or smiled? And I know people who are beautiful - inside and out.

I've been watching Murder Among Friends and they always describe the women as beautiful, all the men want her and vise versa with the men. Then they show the pictures of the real people involved at the end of the show and they are usually just your average looking person on the street.

Yup I have lost count of how many times I have heard that line. Just makes me roll my eyes because it's so cliche.

I know. Tina Leja has been described as beautiful, sexy, a vixen, and other similar adjectives on three shows about her crime. But she is a homely country girl. She's the one who went to college and earned a degree in criminology, then took a job as a Corrections Officer at the local prison, where she had an affair with inmate Darnell Smith, a nasty piece of work. They had sex in his cell, and other inmates began telling guards what's going on. Guards searched his cell and found nude Polaroids under his matress that she had taken just for him. She was fired and took a job at a gas station waiting for him to be released. She lured her friend Bobbie Dee Holder over and watched as Darnell and his brother beat, then shot Bobbie. Later, Darnell, another brother and a friend dismembered the body into small pieces, leaving his torso on her father's land. She ran off with Darnell, got caught, and claimed she was in fear of Darnell. He got life. And she got 17.5 years, with agreement to serve 2/3 of her sentence. But she was out in five.

I'm sure the media describes the females as sexy, seductive, pretty, beautiful, and such in order to pull in more viewers.

Hahaha I have noticed that, too. I wonder how they would describe me, if I was a victim. "Overweight old lady with graying hair who was crabby half the time. She is sorely missed by family because she did all the cooking and laundry." I don't believe I was ever beautiful or lit up a room when I walked in, and I am short on charisma, too.

I agree. It's the same thing with the news. "Who could do that to her? She had no enemies in the world. Everyone loved her!"

So only those people who are not so beautiful deserved to suffer, had all the enemies, & was hated by everyone?

You're right. I was just starting to watch S4 Episode 29 "Twisted Obsession" and the first

thing Paula Zhan says is "A beautiful young woman discovered in a road side ditch"

Paula always says "THE POLICE" about every other second which can get a bit annoying after the first 20 times.
