i would sign up!

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

reply

I think you just show up and fill out a form. I can't imagine a course is involved.

reply

If you watched the show, they said several times that judges were trained on specific things to look for. The class may not be intense, but it is more than showing up to fill out a form. That's why the judges were so annoyed at the one competition. The comp. was so big that they said there was no way there were enough trained judges, that some were brought in quickly.

reply

"Trained?" I bet this is equivalent to the training one receives to sell Kirby vacuums.

Oh, and remember, next Friday is Hawaiian shirt day.

There *is* a training course, you pay about $70, it lasts about 6 hours. You learn by tasting the 4 meat categories, scoring them, hear lectures on the subject. You come out as a Certified Barbecue Judge, and can judge at any KCBS contest across the country. see www.KCBS.us
