It's an in-name-only title attempting to cash in on the Twilight craze.

Not necessarily. They did play on some plot points that are found in the Howling series and even some of the werewolves looked like the ones in the series. Saying that it is only Howling in name only is like saying the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street is in name only; even though they used the same plot points and similar looking costumes.

But I digress, yes, it does seem like they are piggy backing the Twilight series lol.

UM, I just watched the original and they maybe, just maybe they used one plot point from it. But to me it was just another werewolf movie.
I had more in common with "Twilight" than it did with "The Howling"

The fact that this movie ends the same way the original did (with the main character warning people about werewolves and turning into one) suggests that it is a remake, at least in some ways.

It's more of a reboot than a remake, but it has a somewhat similar ending element to the original.
