In the police station scene in which the officer asks Luis to take off his shirt for signs of any tatoos did he looks a bit fat when he is seen shirtless.

I used to live in East LA and all the chicanos were either really fat, really skinny or really muscular. No one was a normal shape. If Luis wanted to join a gang he would have to make a decision and either gain a lot of weight or lose some if he wanted to fit in.

I guess you're trying to make a point here, because you think he is supposed to be a starving/scrawny immigrant, how come/why is he fat ? is that it?

Because if not, I dont see your point. What difference would it make?

Actually poor people tends to be fatter than the wealthier ones, as they rely more on fast food and staples.
