Not yet seen Rock and Chips did del say lovely jubbly in the show?

I just wonder as I have not yet seen Rock and Chips did Del say lovely jubbly at all in the show?

reply

No, he didn't say any of his catchphrases.

He also said "plonker".

he wouldn't have said 'lovely jubbly' until the 70's, that was the advertising slogan for an ice lolly type thing called a 'jubbly', according to the writer del saw the advert on TV and started using the slogan and just never stopped.

He did that weird head movement thing he does when he is acting suave but it wasn't as full on as older Delboy.

He didn't say, 'I'll get you, Butler!'

People do change quite a bit from their teens to late 30s. If he was saying all that stuff all the time, it would have come off as more of a parody.

reply

He said it in the first episode to his girlfriend's parents when he was taking her out.

Lovely Jubbly is written on a poster somewhere in the first episode. It was gone again too quick for me to see what it is advertising. But I didn't hear Del actually say it.

Thanks for letting me know it was a frozen drink. I always wondered whether "lovely jubbly" was cockney rhyming slang for something. All I could think of was bubbly.
