Gladi-ator errors/plot holes

1. You do not take crime analysts into the field, and they have no authority to arrest anyone, since they are not sworn officers.

2. One of the murder motives was a foreclosure of a home that had been lived in by the same people for 40 years. 40 years ago a standard mortgage term was 30 years or less. It would not be possible to live in a home for 40 years and have it foreclosed upon nearly 10 years after it would have been paid for (1973 was a relatively good year for low interest rates, the really high ones began in the late 70's). If they took a second (or third) mortgage, this should have been mentioned, it would have taken one extra line of dialog.

The episode blew but you've never heard of a remortgage?

'Brooklyn DA' series highlighted a felon who pretended to be his dead mother to keep the family brownstone in Brooklyn, which had been in the family for 100 years, but was foreclosed on, so foreclosure is not simply about mortgages, it is also about taxes, etc.

The house in question could have been refinanced, there may have been a second mortgage, etc.

Crime analysts, or 'crime scene analysts'? Their title obviates the need for field work.

Your lack of understanding, O.P., doesn't create a plot hole.

Thanks; I was just giving a couple of examples to the O.P., but every little bit helps!

There a couple other plot holes. She punches her teammate and a ref during the game. In real life she would be thrown out of the game immediately and suspended for future games. Also Josie was stupid to confess. Matt had no proof only a theory. It would have been a difficult case for him to prove.

Again, READ the post.
The added mortgage (if one existed) could have been explained with one line of dialog.

Despite the depiction on the CSI shows, usually neither crime scene analysts nor analysts are sworn officers. For the FDLE they do not carry guns and do not have arrest authority. In the scene commented upon, the analyst was given a pair of handcuffs and told to arrest someone.

Having worked in law enforcement perhaps I have too much understanding.

No more than you've ever heard of reading the entire post. See the one line of added dialog part.
