The Glades - A Great Series But Daniel Got A Short Shrift
Hey folks,
My wife and I both thought this was a great series the first time we saw it as well as the second time we watched it on Netflix in 2005. In our opinions, the stories (writing) and the acting were all great. Most of the episodes were stand-alones (episodic), but a few had story arc that covered two episodes. Unlike many viewers, we prefer episodic rather than arc based series.
When the series started, the character Daniel was an unpaid intern for about two seasons. When he finally got a paid job as an intern, it really was shameful. Daniel should have been hired as a well paid detective or some other equal position commensurate with his value to the job he did. Jim may have been the experienced detective which was the heart and soul of the show, but Daniel was the guy who had all the technical knowledge to make the hero out of the detective.
I liked all the characters on this show, and while it had a good run, it ended poorly without any bringing all the threads together. In spite of this shortcoming, we have enjoyed watching the series twice so far. I suspect if we live long enough, we will start watching the series for the third time toward the end of this year. That is how much we liked it.
Best wishes,
