Why does everyone like Christian?

I don't understand Tara's obsession or Kat's relationship with him. He's not a nice guy and he's a terrible boyfriend! What do these girls see in him? I wish the show pushed a more positive relationship. Christian basically mentally abuses his girlfriends by disappearing and pushing everyone away because he's so "jaded."

Blah.
