Common is a terrible actor, ruined the whole movie

It's almost like the guy isn't even trying. No emotions, no variation in speech tone to reflect the mood of the scene. Makes me realize I'm watching a movie and not actually experiencing the story.

Anyway so Common ruined the movie, but Whitaker, Liota and Chiklis were awesome of course.

Seeing Chiklis in action with the British accent was ace, and made enduring Common's terrible performance much more bearable.

So if you loved The Shield and are a big fan of Chiklis, check out the movie.

Liota and Whitaker don't play major parts, but they're okay in the film as well.

Oh and the film is a classic hostage thriller -- cheap, unoriginal, but definitely well produced given the budget.

Yes very 1 dimensional performance
Didn't know his rapper history but I guess that explains things
I am still coming to terms with chiklis British accent

In no way did it 'Ruin' the movie..

Yeah he was bad at just about every point in the film, but the movie was still decent .

I agree he was bad, but didn't ruin the movie. There were a couple bad actors, but I haven't seen a movie where every actor was exceptional.

I don't think Common had that big of apart..
He did not ruin it for me..

It was a mediocre movie...
Not something to rewatch.

He is not bad in "Hell on Wheels." Chiklis' British accent really was a curve ball.

Wrong. He does a great job of it. What do you want him to do? You want him stamping his foot and crying in each scene? He's definitely an actor I'd like to see more of.

Exactly. I mean look at Will Smith, Mark Wahlburg, Ice Cube, Queen Latifah & Ice Tea. Clearly a bunch of talentless hacks who should not have ventured beyond their musical aspirations. God forbid a person decided to pursue more than one area of interest within the entertainment industry.

Yes, Common's performance was subpar in this movie (and a couple others, as well) but I chalk it up to him simply not being that great at acting, not on the idea that he raps. There are plenty of 'bad actors' who couldn't carry a tune in a bucket and many great actors who churn out a bad performance every now and then. Just how it is.

I didn't feel Common's role was crucial enough to 'Ruin The Whole Movie'... His interactions were relatively brief and few when compared to the entirety of the movie... For me, his performance didn't add nor detract from the film...
