I saw the trailer on You Tube, but it had no dialogue. Can someone tell me the basic premise without giving away any spoilers?

This is a GREAT film! It's a coming-of-age sort of thing. BRILLIANT script, BRILLIANT acting, BRILLIANT score... just brilliant. Can't wait to see it again! It's absolutely unforgettable.

It's a coming of age story set among Irish Americans in New York in the 70s, a tale of two brothers -- one an artist, one a thief -- their relationship with each other, with their parents, and with the greater world around them. If you're not Irish-American, well -- if you're Anything-American -- there are things in here with which you will relate deeply. I don't care if you're Irish, Italian, African, Chinese, Japanese, Armenian, Indian, Croatian, Latvian, Russian, British, Greek, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Eskimo, Canadian, Mexican, (fill in any other country on Earth) dash American... Did you have parents? Did you have siblings? For you only kids out there, did you have close friends? Did you grow up breathing, smiling, living and laughing, or sometimes crying?
Non-spoiler description: Film-makers with small budget take great script and incredible actors and make a film that will move you to... to feel. To laugh, to relate, to cry, to feel good, to recognize yourself. That's worth any fifty IMAX 3D Crapstravoganzas. What is this movie about? Humanity. Reminding you of your own. Kicking you out of your multiplex trance. This film is about what film used to be about. Period. What art has always been about. The imitation of life in order to illuminate our own perception of what our own lives are, or should be, about.
Or... you can go see that Justin Bieber 3D travesty instead. Probably much easier, since you don't have to think about it afterward. Philistine.
