In the old days, many BP revolvers to converted to use cartridges.
However, it was depicted as more powerful than it really would have been.

It was a Colt's 3rd Model Dragoon, and was indeed converted to cartridge. There's a closeup, and it's easy to see there's no nipples for percussion caps on the cylinder.
