My DVD rental messed up! Tell me what happens...

So I rented this from Redbox and just when it was getting halfway decent, the DVD had a gash my player couldn't read! Help me fill in a gap...

*SPOILERS*

Got as far as that idiot girl messing with the Chainsaw and it falling on her face and the guy trying to pull it out...here is where the DVD went to hell...I could only skip ahead to the scene where the guy that was with her hung himself from a tree...and all hell breaks lose with everyone not trusting each other, etc, which through me off. I wanna say I missed 10+ minutes, but it seems these were ESSENTIAL 10+ minutes to the basis of this movie...please help me out! Thanks a bunch!! Effin Redbox customers...I swear these people use rental DVDs as FRISBEES!

I actually just finished watching it! Great film, in my opinion. :]

Here's what I got...

* Miranda is drinking with Julie, Chris and Steve. They start fighting and Miranda gets upset and turns around and her eye gets poked from a branch. Sophia takes her to get help.

* Julie, Danny, Chris and Steve are the only ones left to work on the project. Danny is with Chris, and Julie is with Steve. Julie messes around with the chainsaw and it gets stuck in the middle of her face. Steve turns around sees what has happened and he tries to help her by trying to take the chainsaw out, only doing that just made it worse and it kills her. As this is happening Chris and Danny show up because they heard Julie's screams.

* Steve loses his mind after that and starts "seeing" Julie. Danny and Chris go looking for him and they find him in the tree and he has a rope around his neck and they tell him to get down but he doesn't listen, he jumps and hangs himself instead.

* Danny and Chris being the only ones left, get into a fight about what they're gonna do with Julie and Steve's bodies, and Chris confesses that he actually wasn't there to get laid or volunteer (like he had said in the beginning of the film when they all had explained why they were all there) and that he has a criminal record and being there for a year was a part of community service instead of jail.

* Chris wants to bury the bodies and Danny walks off to look for help.

* While looking for help Danny spots the white van that they all arrived in that Sophia had used to take Miranda to the hospital with.

* (At this scene it clearly shows that Chris is mental or is going mental.) Chris buries Steve's body and when he goes back to Julie he starts acting really weird (like talking crazy and touching the part of Julie's face where it is split open from the chainsaw accident). Sophia shows up while Chris is next to Julie's body, she starts screaming at Chris while holding a sharp object asking him, "what the f_ck is going on?!" Chris tries to explain everything that happened, but him and Sophia are the only ones left (except Danny). Thinking that he killed Julie and Steve, she asks where Danny is and he tells her that he went to go get help but she doesn't believe him. He asks where Miranda is and she tells him that she's still in the hospital. He then hits her in the head with the shovel and then picks up a big rock and smashes her head with it. While she's lying there it shows her with the chain (that magic trick one that Danny had given her when she was about to take off with Miranda to the hospital).

* Chris hides Sophia's body.

* Danny comes back. Chris asks him if he's found anyone. He says that the van is back and asks Chris if he's seen Sophia. Chris says no but as they're talking Danny notices the chain in front of him on the ground in Sophia's blood and he picks it up and then realizes Sophia was there. He doesn't say anything about it but continues talking to Chris.

* Chris goes after Danny with the axe but Danny jumps out of the way and starts to run.

* Chris goes after Danny and Danny jumps out from behind Chris and strangles him with the chain and then he goes to get the shovel. While Danny goes to get the shovel Chris gets up and starts to reach for the axe and then as he turns around Danny comes running with the shovel and chops Chris's head off!

* Danny being the only one left, packs up the van, and tries to hide a body. He drives away with the body in the van (I'm guessing it's Sophia's? But I don't know why he has the body and puts the body in the van!) and then he gets pulled over by the cop that they show in the beginning of the movie and that's when they also explain the beginning of the movie... The cop says that he knew Danny's mom from high school and that the two of them shared pictures of their families and chatted online, he recognizes Danny from pictures that Danny's mom had shown him and gives Danny his condolences of losing his family. He tells him to get out of the car and they continue chatting. As he finishes chatting with Danny and as he's about to get in his car and drive off, Danny asks why he was pulled over and the cop responds, "I was just bored". As Danny goes back to the van he's suddenly hit by a red car. This is where we see the scenes from the beginning of the film where we first see the cop... A girl gets out of the car and once she realizes it was Danny she starts screaming and freaking out saying, "I shouldn't have been driving!" She goes to Danny and then Danny dies. That girl happens to be Miranda who had just gotten out of the hospital. She gets up screaming help and goes to the van and sees the body. She screams "what the f_ck?!" and then she turns around and another branch pokes out her other eye.

From what I've gathered, Danny is the one lying in the road covered in blood in the beginning of the film and Miranda is the girl wondering around with missing eyeballs. The cop came back and he's now checking out the scene (Danny lying dead in the road and sees Miranda without her eyes) that had just happened soon after he had been talking to Danny.

Hope that helped! :]

Thank you SO SO much for that thorough breakdown. It helps fill in some of the gaps! Still weird how that one doing the community service goes a little "coo coo"..just a convenience for the film?

But if the body was left hanging everything would be OK right?
