Unnecessary movie

I mean Pure Country wasn't a good movie either ,it was a vehicle for Strait period and made for fans only .Anyone else would have been bored after 10 minutes as the movies acting and plot were typical family channel type drivel. How these movies get theatrical releases is beyond me when other better movies suffer direct to DVD treatment.

So now we have Pure Country 2 , which by the way is not even a sequel to Pure Country. Strait is in it but he is playing himself not Dusty Rhodes and he has all of 15 mins of screen time. And it is again a vehicle for a singer but this time it's a woman I've never heard of and could care less about. Katrina Elam who is using this movie as her American Idol tryout it would seem. How many times have we seen this done - girl from the sticks wants to be a star , goes to the big city ,fails and then turns it around for a happy ending. ZZZ.. This movie was in hiatus for 5 years because they couldnt get funding for it??? what does that tell you - clunker yet no doubt fanboys and girls will pay the 8-10 bucks for mind numbing boredom.

I agree but I think it is nice to have a "family" movie playing at the theaters. It gives people an alternative to the violent, horror, and dramatic movies out there no matter how "Hallmark channel Movie of the week" Pure Country 2 may be.

i swort of disagree. pure country one was not bad at all. i just think that for this movie george strait should have reprised his role as dusty. otherwise it'll make no sence of making this film. but whatever i'll give hollywood credit for trying i guess. as long as they have a good story then thats fine with me.

Katrina is not using this movie as an "American Idol tryout". She released an album in 2004 and was supposed to release another one in 2006. Since then she has been writing. She has written some songs for Carrie Underwood. There was an interview she did with the directors promoting it. I wish people would stop judging her before they really know what type of woman she is. She has worked hard to get where she is. Even if they did have to wait years to make the film, they still used Katrina in it. It proves she's not anything like how you're portraying her. If she was using it to get more press, etc. I'm sure she would have found some other way of doing it by now. It was just a good experience for her. I for one hope and pray it helps her fan base grow because SHE DESERVES IT. She is amazingly talented and even writes her own music. They are only releasing it in select theaters so I'm sure they already knew releasing it everywhere wouldn't do any good.
