The way the writers developed Simon over the course of the show was brilliant. Does anyone know if the original plan was to have him go back to the past when Season 1 ended? Or if that decision was made after the first season finished? Basically, when Nathan was saved by the masked guy, I'm wondering if it was already the plan for it to be Future Simon.
shareThe original plan was for Simon to turn on the gang for Sally. But they liked Iwan played Simon too much, so they made him kill her to protect the gang instead. In the original plan he would have gone to jail, and they'd visit him like Hannibal Lector when they needed advice.
Superhoodie was originally someone else, there is a web video that's was taken out of continuity to help cover some of the continuity issues. Still it was a great turn of events. Making Simon Superhoodie just gives him an amazing character arc. And besides a few hiccups it seems completely planned, and boosts things to another level.

I don't know how you watched the series, but did you see the webisodes? Short web clips of other things done by the gang. Season 1's webisodes were filmed by Simon on his phone. Season 2's webisdes being filmed by Superhoodie with hidden cameras. The different versions of the same character doing the same thing in different ways. Always liked that.

Also what would have stopped Simon from being his invisibly to escape prison?
The actor that played Superhoodie in 1.06 wasn't a different person. Also there is a webisode call Superhoodie Speaks that was taken out of continuity, where Superhoodie confronts Simon. It was even deleted from their site, get rid of continuity errors.

If Iwan Rheon was Superhoodie in that episode, then I assume it would still be future Simon.
Past Simon would probably have gotten out of jail at some point. He might have later redeemed himself and become Superhoodie or maybe Superhoodie was a villain in this version.
I don't know if that's what the original plan was, but super hoodie makes an appearance in S1 (rescuing Nathan), so they certainly knew what they had planned for Simon by the end of S1.
shareI read a post about this on Livejournal back when the show was airing season 2 where the writer theorized Superhoodie was originally going to be Nathan (explaining how he knew where he was when needing to be rescued, when Simon likely wouldn't have known that information), and the romance would have been Superhoodie!Nathan/Kelly.
