3.2...

I'm watching it now, and it's really not worth a 3.2. No, it's not the funniest, but it's kind of a fun movie. Not sure why it's that low. It deserves maybe a 5.7, but not 3.2

reply

I think it's that low because a wide variety of people went to see it and a lot of them were adults.

The main target for this movie is kids. So when you add in a bunch of ADULT's reviews, the adults' low score make the movie's score "average" really low - as in the 3.2 you just stated.

It was not a family movie, but a kids movie.

Ratings like that happen when you leave a huge portion of the general audience out.

I liked it somewhat though and I would have personally gave it a 5.5

Then that's on the adults. It's based on a best-selling kids' book series and stars mostly kids.

I think a 5.7 or so would be about right. I don't understand the hate. I have kids and I've seen movies much worse than this.

"Then that's on the adults"

Actually it's on whoever had the idea to put this movie in the THEATERS. Since they put it in movie theaters, there are of course gonna be a lot of adults watching it because the adults have to take their kids to the theaters. So the adults have to watch it with them and if you make it entirely unenjoyable for adults, then you're going to get some bad reviews from people that HAD to watch it.

I thought it was delightful and I'm a grown man. (I'm not a perv, I just have eclectic tastes!).

5.7 = F
3.2 = F

Honestly, what's the difference...

Yeah it should be a lot higher. It was pretty cute and fun.

My thought process is as follows concerning this movie:
Vivid colors =/= humor
Words like "thrilladelic" =/= humor
Vomit (in most cases) =/= humor

The intelligence of younger kids was being desperately underestimated with this movie.

I've got kids aged 9 and 6, and perhaps I've seen far too many kids movies, but both my kids thought this movie was fantastic. They still ask to watch it a year after the first viewing, and played the 'thrill points' game last summer. Think about that for a second... How many movies to the kids REALLY ask to see over and over again? A full year later? None of us were familiar with the Judy Moody book series. I thought the movie was fun, upbeat and whimsical... it was a fun ride that makes me feel like a kid again each time the kids watch it. If you rated this slow, you must have let the child in you die.. and I feel sorry for you. Want to see some bad kids movies? Scan red box and netflix, it's filled with generic and poor movies, they are bad and watching it is like a visit to the dentist. That's NOT this movie. I can't imagine how people would rate this below most of the recent kids major releases.. just in 2013, this movie was better than big name released like the Croods, Epic, Planes, Smurfs 2, shoot, even Monsters U was a disappointment. Watch this movie, suspend your belief for a 90 minutes, and escape to childhood silliness and innocence.. and enjoy every minute.
