I took it that Meyer's son either escaped with his life as he was the one who asked for his father to be killed because he "didn't want to wait" for the inheritance, or he too was killed to cover up the crime in the wake of the discovery of the video.

Then it switched to wherever corrupt police chief Werner was and in the same room appeared the safecracker, Sartet, and that scene implied that Sartet was going to get revenge by killing Warner. Also the TV news switched from the party at Pierret's to Warner's at the end.
