If you like metal, 80's B horror movies, and fantasy, you'll like this!

I know it has a very focused target audience, but I really enjoyed it. I don't understand why movies like Frozen are 100% recommended by critics when people like me would never watch sappy cartoons like that. Why does a movie for kids get a top rating but a movie for stoner metal nerds get panned? Knights of Badassdom doesn't have universal appeal, but if you like Black Sabbath and Evil Dead and Dragons, I don't see how you could not enjoy this movie.

It definitely misses the mark on some of the pacing and characterization it was going for and it could have been A LOT better. I wouldn't call it a classic even for me, the target audience. But all it's faults kind of add to that crappy B movie 80's appeal of the whole thing, and you couldn't have gotten a better cast if you tried. I'm not sure if I'll watch it again, but if you are part of the target audience, you'll probably enjoy yourself, don't listen to the bad reviews.

I think you really hit the nail on the head. It has an EXTREMELY limited target audience. I am part of that target demo (I love 80s horror and metal music!) and I still thought it was mediocre. The opening bits and ending bits are pretty solid. The whole middle section drags, and you could tell they had NO IDEA what to put there. I agree the pacing was a bit off.

Dinklage was HILARIOUS, and he really made me laugh. Also great to see Steve Zahn again, he still has it. The gore was fun, it just needed to pick one and go with it. The horror aspect shows up 45 mins into the film and really feels out of nowhere. Some more time editing the writing, and a real budget might've helped this quite a bit too.

As it is now it's alright, definitely watchable compared to other things coming out, but it's also not going to appeal to a very wide audience...

I think it had a CHANCE to appeal to a wide audience if they just fixed the pacing a bit. I didn't read up on the troubles they had making this film until afterwards. That's a messed up story and probably hurt the movie a lot, but I was oblivious beforehand and still liked it. You like weed, metal, and medieval beasts, you will probably want to watch this. If not, what's wrong with you!?

If you like metal, 80's B horror movies, and fantasy and good movies you will hate this.

Which 80's B horror movie was a truly good movie though? That's kind of the point of B movies. It could've been a lot better, but if you're like me you'll still be entertained

If "being like you" means enjoying movies with terrible scripts and terrible directing and editing, then I'm really glad I'm not like you! :D

I can tell from your face you aint like me. If you prefer cartoons like Frozen, that's your choice and I'm not sure why you watched this movie. Sorry to insult your favorite cartoon.

Marty: The last time Tap toured America, they where, uh, booked into 10,000 seat arenas, and 15,000 seat venues, and it seems that now, on their current tour they're being booked into 1,200 seat arenas, 1,500 seat arenas, and uh I was just wondering, does this mean uh...the popularity of the group is waning?

Ian: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no...no, no, not at all. I, I, I just think that the.. uh.. their appeal is becoming more selective.

And the joke is that Spinal Tap suck and have always sucked and they are no longer as relevant/fashionable as they used to be.

Just like this movie. Its appeal is "selective" because apparently you have to be into all the subject matter and be willing to forgive a total inability of the screenwriters to rise above the upper levels of "suck" into the lower levels of "mediocre".

Everything wrong with this movie can be traced back to the writing. "Ill-conceived" is a great term to use here.

This movie is SO MUCH AWESOME! My geek son and I watched together, good family bonding time :). I hope he sticks to cosplay and doesn't LARP though, it's a scary world out there.

I'd suggest Deathgasm (2015) instead

We crash into each other, just so we can feel something.
