Far from honest opinions and reviews here on IMDB.

I understand smaller films need to generate interest I just wish people involved or knew people connected with the film didn't give such biased reviews or start overly praising topics here. Of the 3 positive reviews only one of the users zombie_land_lover had done other comments, and only then for movies by Needle's director John V. Soto (maybe hes one and the same if so I suggest you watch other directors films to balance out your opinion).

I'm not trying to sound bitter against Needle just finished watching it. It was OK a little blood but mild, in its favor had a great looking young cast and good pace. Downsides the cheap looking fx they did during the deaths (the shot goes negative, this to do with plot using photos in the revenge device, but it looked rubish and took away from any tension or blood spilt). Also the plots been done to death a little recently, was a pretty standard final destination clone, been so many other teens against supernatural forces movies during the 2000's.

Easy worth between a 4-5/10 which against most horrors these days is fair, but reviews giving it a 8/10 or 10/10 are a pure jokes and misleading to horror fans.

Agreed. This Movie was not great, good or even fair. It stunk, plain and simple.

The twinkling piano background music and dark lighting, along with a slow witted shallow plot and under enthusiastic acting, made it barely tolerable to follow along.

So, inevitable I gave up, cut my losses halfway through with no regrets, and moved on. -- If your thinking on watching this stinker, save an hour or so of your life and Move On!!

1/5

My God !! It's full of stars ......

I'm not associated with the people who made Needle, although i'd love to work with them one day...I'm a film lover who supports all aussie made films, particularly WA films, 'cause its where I live..

tell me, nomadz, what films have you made recently?

And you're proudly admitting to this just to save us the trouble of pointing out that your positive opinion must be biased and can't possible be connected to the actual quality of the movie?

*** SPOILERS (if at all possible) ***
It's one of those movies who chooses the least likely suspect to force a surprise ending, which is not the same as an engineous plot, that's called cheating. If the movie attempts to be a whodunnit, logical clues must be present otherwise it's all pointless.

It's so terribly done, that their unfair attempt even manages to fail, you just know it's someone you shouldn't expect so it's actually very easy to guess the murderer, even if you can't possible understand the motivations since it makes absolutely no sense at all. And yes I know she was the daughter, which was really the only remaining option and fully predicatble. Still, her actions made no sense at all, why kill her own girlfriend? "Because she was your friend, Marcus". Right... glad you cleared that up. It would have made more sense to kill his brother Ben first, since she was only interested in Marcus' friends.

And the final scene where a woman without special powers says she is going to kill everyone and puts the gun down is beyond ridiculous, Marcus just sits in a corner 3 feet away like a little baby. Makes no sense at all, has nothing to lose but still awaits their deaths, and when he finally gets up manages to lose to a woman who is obviously physically weaker.

And what about the coincidence of both the brother Ben and the box turning up just at the time she knew how to use it and decided to take her revenge?

And why the hell not call or check up on his teacher sooner if you receive a phonecall "urgent" which gets disconnected? He already KNEW something about the box was wrong.

I feel a "ten things I've learned" coming on...

You have NO CLUE what imdb is. See what we do is post our opinions and reviews here. I don't have to have made 100 movies to have an opinion nor does it make my opinion invalid. Apparently you think imdb is a place to go to hype up your own movie. The place to make your movie great is while you are making it and not afterwards. If there is one thing that I find etched in stone as a rule on imdb is that anytime you have cast and/or crew commenting on their own film, it is going to SUCK. How many times have you seen Spielberg commenting on his own films on imdb?

agree with Nomadz, also anyone notice how the characters accents kept chaging scene by scene...irritating

reply

Thanks theNomadz, your review was awesome!
You saved me about 90min of my life. I will avoid this film like the plague.

Thanks!
Keep up the good work.

PS> right on the ball about cast and crew pumping up their own films. I could tell right away when the first review was a 10 and the IMDM review was around 5. At least these guys could try a more humble number. It's just sad...

reply

Kudos to the posters who are keeping it real and helping people who actually want to know if a movie is worth watching. I'm so fed up with the pumpers, at least these discussion areas contain some truth.

reply

In the interest of full disclosure, I have not seen this movie yet so I won't give it a rating BUT what I said stands about cast and crew pumping up their own films on imdb. As of right now, I have never seen a movie that turned out to be good when the cast and crew were commenting on it on imdb. Never happened even once. All signs point to this movie being a pile of sh!t.

@Nomadz: Thanks! I'll trust your review and watch this movie when I have absolutely nothing better to do.

It's hard to find a decent horror movie these days. It seems that they've started a trend of rehashing old ideas and then crediting themselves as being "original" (yeah, right!)

reply

Very mediocre film, I knew who the killer was from the start, I wish that they hadn't made it so damn obvious...I also hated the "negative" shots during the deaths and the familiar killer's motive.

reply

Maybe I missed something but how was it obvious? I had no clue except I knew it wouldn't be the obvious chick...very mediocre film though I agree but I've seen alot worse.

'Needle' is genuinely different enough to be interesting. It's well enough made and acted, gruesome where it counts and had a decent mystery plot attached.

In a genre so barren of imagination they did a good job creating something different.

I agree wholeheartedly with you Angelus. I watched it tonight and greatly enjoyed this film, just as much for the fleshed out characterisations and interesting relationship between the brothers as for the horror element. I think that far too many verbal pins are being stuck in 'Needle' at present, probably putting off some prospective viewers, who 'shock, horror ' might actually, given the oppurtunity, have the audacity to like the film.

It wasn't very good.

reply

I give it a 7 or 8, I think. I actually thought it as really good, with some great characters (Mainly Marcus, Ryan, Candy, and Isabel <3 Especially Marcus and Ryan), some very disturbing kills, and a genuinely shocking twist

A standard Final Destination clone?
When did the people in this movie escape death and then start dying in freak accidents one by one?

I enjoyed this movie and would give it a 6/10
Maybe a 5/10, not sure
But it was still enjoyable and had it's strong elements
