NO Oscar nomination for Best Documentary??!

What were the judges watching all year, anyway? Whether you're a Rush fan or not, you can't deny that this is the pinnacle of quality and thoroughness of research in rock documentaries. I watched it three times within a month of buying it, and bought a whack of them for friends' birthday gifts. I predicted at the time it would get at least a nomination, and now the Academy, without a thought to others, has made me a liar.

AGAIN.

Not too surprising. This is the same people who forgot the excellence of "The Fountain" and are lauding Darren Aronofksy for this ballet piece of tripe. And let's also not forget that these are the same people who nominated Mickey Roarke for "The Fighter" and forgot Hugh Jackman in "The Fountain" a far superior film to "Black Swan".

Nominations mean nothing at all, but this is a superb documentary that even the self-indulgent musing of Jack Black cannot destroy. I gave it 10/10, and I'm stingy with my 10s.

I hated it. Instead of telling the story of Rush, it kept cutting to interview clips of people who had no more inside knowledge of the band than I do.

It was more like a celebrity roast than a documentary - except without humor.

I used to be a huge Rush fan. This sorry excuse for a film failed to maintain my interest. Finally, after seeing some dude from Metalica talk about how one of Alex Liveson's solos really influenced him, I had to turn it off. Who gives a ef?

I can see Metalica fans finding that entertaining. Maybe this should be a Metalica documentary.

No Oscar was right.
