Sebastian Bach was awesome!

im not really a fan of his music, but as a "fan" i think he captured alot of fans excitement. when hes going through his wardrobe and stuff, hes just geeked to show them to the camera. i think he was the closest "celeb" to show how everyone who loves rush feels when they talk about the band.

reply

I felt the same way. I'm not a fan of his music at all, really, but I liked what he had to say in this documentary.

His child-like delight was awesome. I like when he geeked out with his Alex bobble-head.

Dude's a total toolbag. That's how he is 24/7, except when he's pissy about not getting what he wants. Seriously, guy came off as really insincere and like he loved the attention.

reply

I think Bach's former manager described him best: "He gets by on pure energy. He's a high RPM, low IQ type of guy."

reply

Man I love Baz. His interviews are hilarious he's excited about everything. Also those who complain about his music should listen to his last album Angel Down, great metal record!

Bach said of 2112 that it made him run out and read The Fountainhead. Wasn't 2112 based on Rand's book Anthem? Is this rocks version of "misremembering?"

reply

Yes to ANTHEM being the thematic source for 2112 ... but Fountainhead is a much easier, more mainstream read among the Rand novels. Anthem is good, but painful to read through to the end if you've never tackled any other writing by Rand. I would highly recommend the film version of Fountainhead, and the audio version of Atlas Shrugged -- just to save yourself time :)

But imo Anthem is worth reading, if you are willing to be a non-purist and actually skip/skimread over a LOT of early pages.

PS: not true about HEINLEIN'S novel "For Us, The Living", which I found was much more polished than I expected for a well-known author's FIRST novel.

EDIT: oops, my bad -- Rand's first novel was so similarly named to Heinlein that I got mixed up, it was called "We the Living" and it is painfully boring. AND it has nothing to do with 2112 -- that WAS Anthem, and tbh Anthem was a pretty good read almost from the beginning. Slow start, but hey it's Rand.

Sebastian Bach was the only guy there that was interview that I felt was pointless and added nothing to the film. Plus he acts like such a douche.

reply

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks sebastian bach is a douche. He is totally self absorbed and spazzes out for the camera, thinking he is clever.

His biggest douche moment was when he was saying how impressed he was with rush for singing in french. They're Canadians, dude, Canadian people speak French, too.

YOU'RE Canadian!!! What was your point?? Did you think that you were being profound but explaining something that nobody else got?

reply

Funny, I've been a fan of Bach for a long time (musicly, I dont care about much artists personally)

But I started listening to Rush for the first time recently. I have not seen this film at all, but listening to '2112' on repeat for a few days I kept thinking to myself; "hmm Seb Bach was DEFINITELY inspired by Geddy Lee's vocals."

As a teacher, I applaud getting people to read anything for any reason! Neil sets a good example.

I meant to also say Sebastian Bach is indeed awesome, not only because of his great voice but also his sense of humor, as evidenced by his appearances in Trailer Park Boys.

he may be a fan but thinking the fountainhead was the source of "2112" only showed him up to be the fu*kwit he is..............

reply

I gave him the benefit of the doubt - 2112 inspired an interest in Rand and he bought The Fountainhead. As our teacher friend here says, anything that encourages reading is to be applauded.

Awight we're The Daamned we're a punk baand and this is called Carn't Be Appy T'day!

reply

Agreed! He brought the whole documentary up a level. I went to see Jekyl & Hyde Years ago on Broadway and Sebastian Bach was the Lead role... I was thinking OMG this is gonna suck ,, No way, he blew it over the top.. Amazing show...

reply

"I, Sebastian Bach, was member number three of the Rush backstage club at Toronto mothertrucker"

Jeez what a tool! I have to hit the mute button during his thankfully short appearance.

reply

You're really poor at interpreting people's behaviours aren't you?

reply

One of the things that makes Sebastian an interesting musician and interview is that he is a FAN. I remember him wearing a RUSH tee shirt when he was filming the show "Supergroup". Bach sang with the group The Last Hard Men with Kelly Deal from The Breeders. Deal said Bach was a huge fan of music of many different genres. Bach's music may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think he is an excellent singer. A friend met Bach after one of his Broadway performances and said he was very personable. Bach is also a big fan of the band KISS. If had been old enough to see RUSH and KISS tour together he would have fainted.

reply

pity he did not know the difference between Anthem-the novella 2112 was inspired by-and The Fountainhead-another Ayn Rand novel-that had NOTHING to do with 2112.

reply

I definitely think it would be fun to go hang out and chug beers with that guy.
