no... No... NO...NOOOO

I'm sorry... But Harriet the Spy is strictly a Nick classic. Disney can't touch upon it! And to update it to blogging? Bad idea. And Rosie O Donnell and Michelle Trachdenburgh are far to good to have their shoes filled by some Disney actor. I don't want them to remake a movie I already love. I'm only 17. I'm to young to see movies from my childhood remade. This is ridiculous.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I know the bookand the orignal movie were great. this sounds so very dumb.

sam tyler:David Bowie. Why does it always come back to David Bowie?

reently i searched jennifer stone on here, and saw that she was to be in a remake, the first thing i thought, was "wtf" but then i realized i hadnt seen the original since i was a child and could only slightly remember it. so i bought the vhs today and just finished watching it, and there is only one thing that i have to say about a remake is :WTF IS WRONG WITH DISNEY, SRSLY.. LEAVE THE MOVIE ALONE. IT WAS GREAT, AND STILL IS. THE ONLY HING A REMAKE IS GOING TO DO, IS MAKE YOU MORE MONEY THAT YOU DONT NEED WHEN THERE IS A 100X BETTER ONE OUT ALREADY AND HAS BEEN FROM THE BEGINNING. /end of caps.

and the worst is.. why the hell have some blonde looking barbie play golly. grr

We're off to go to the island...

Catcher wasn't talking about Jennifer Stone, but rather the actress playing Golly (the character originally played by Rosie O'Donnell)

Rosie O'Donnel's a hack anyway.

I literally HATE when Disney touches things that aren't originally theirs...
They always succeed in turning things into overly pop-cultured, whitewashed fluff...

C'mon...Tratchtenberg's face is forever engraved in my mind, with her yellow slicker and magnifying glass...

But I guess we have to remember that those of us who remember Nickelodeon's original, are not Disney's intended demographic...

reply

Technically not a remake, but another freaking adaptation, but, we all have to remember, Fitzhugh's original book was published in 1964, and so the even the Nickelodeon produced version was a update of the original story, it happens

But, I agree with the bad casting thing, in the original she was a kid, not a teenager, Disney buys the rights to the book and does this to it?! When Walt bought a book, he stuck to the source material with some minor changes, but not surprised, and even when he was gone, when they adapted something, they usually either changed very little or,in some cases, like the original Freaky Friday,Something Wicked This Way Comes, and Holes, got the writer of the book to write the screenplay.

Sadly, Louise Fitzhugh passed away in the 70's, so we'll never have her thoughts on either adaptation of her works

reply

Yeah, like they did with T*Witches.

This is going to be terrible. Just terrible. The original is a fxcking classic, Disney. You can't touch it. UGH.

the original was terrible, i think you need to watch that again.....

I whole heartedly disagree. I'm watching this new one and I want to throw up. The acting is terrible, the character is too old to still have a "nanny" and some of the lines and situations seem too familiar to another film... one made in 1996... for Nickelodeon... I won't say any names...
