Why is Nick so lame on this show

I think he is very lame on this show. He shows little to no backbone. He always seems a bit afraid of that brat of a wife I wish they would have recast.

But every episode he seems like such a weak sob. It's hard to watch Terry Crews being this way, or anyone else being this way. He took HER last name. Really!? She always seems so selfish, and then wouldn't even change from her Ex's last name to the guys name that has taken over as a Dad for him.

I just can't believe the writing on this show.

I could be just nitpicking, over analyzing, ect ect...but it doesn't come off as funny to me, just sad.

It's actually improved. It used to be worse in the first season. I actually had a post on here about my issues with the way Essence Atkins played the wife. I have noticed that their chemistry and the way she relates to him has gotten A LOT better so I can't complain anymore.

LOL - I don't necessarily know how to feel about him taking her last name though. I guess its something that some families do that they wanted to shed light on.

Prob why it didn't last as long as it did.I like it but not as much as house of Payne or Meet the Browns.

I know it's just a TV show, but believe it or not there are real people out there who act like that. And I'm not being racist, because I'm white and know a lot of white couples like that. The wife tries to get her way all the time and treats the husband ad ex-husband like crap. In real life, that kind of husband often cheats on the wife. Oh wait, isn't that what Suzanne's ex-husband did to her? Yeah it's like real life. Not all couples are like that of course, but I know some. I've been a widow for many years, and I've been propositioned by husbands like Nick. So if they're trying to get with me, I know they've done it with someone else. My guy friends who have wives like that say they stay with them because it's easier than going through a divorce and losing half of everything.

A good man like Nick would only be able take that crap for so long, so the show wouldn't be able to extend past 4-5 years without him having enough or her changing. If they continued the show, I could see Suzanne leaving and the kids choosing to stay with Nick. Now that would almost be interesting enough to watch.
