Why is the wife so ANGRY !!!

Don't get me wrong I don't think this show is good but Terry Crews and the kids are at least more normal than Essence Atkins is - Every episode she finds someone to control, be angry at or just be unpleasant to. Who in their right mind would have married this woman ? IF she could warm up a little and they worked on giving the two main actors the chance to be more than cardboard characters the show could have a chance - I watched a couple of episodes On Demand the other day - I was sick and couldn't reach the remote and it was like a train wreck but one you just couldn't drag your eyes from ! and afterwords you just wanted to ask yourself why oh why did you do it.

i'm watching the new episode right now she's already angry about something, its from him trying to spice up their relationship, thats all he really treis to do on this show and she responds the same way all the time, angry and annoying, and this is coming from someone who likes Essence Atkins

there is an angry wife in damn near every sitcom, why can't she be? Also it's good to see she's disciplining Kevin in this particular episode.

Because in other sitcoms with angry wives it is clear why they are angry - aside from the episode where he went out to the "Hooters-type" restaurant, it is not clear why she is ALWAYS angry.

Yeah but Raymond and Doug are always lying or screwing up somehow, how can Suzanne get angry when her husband is trying to help the relationship?

I have not seen the show but I know a couple where the wife mainly spends her time waiting for the husband to do something wrong so she can get pissed off.

His first wife was even worse.

I wish I can shake your hand because me and my mother have been saying the same thing. Why is the wife so angry? The show needs help writing wise and personally, I wouldn't have picked these particular actors especially Essence Atkins. It's a turn-off, frustrating and annoying the continued perpetuation of the "angry black woman." I am trying to give this show a chance, but time is expiring very soon.

I was thinking the same thing, she is always unhappy about something. There hasn't been an episode yet, where she doesn't fuss at her husband. And other occasions, she is mad at her husband, the kids or her husband's friend, Martin. I want her character to be more pleasant towards her husband atleast. Her voice is already irritating, and it's made worse with her sarcasm, yelling and fussing.

She was horrible, but even worse was the stupid "growling" noise(arrrghhhh) of disdain their daughter started doing in season 2 after everything they asked her to do. Not to be forgotten is that Nick's facetious boss. Nick couldn't say anything without him reprimanding him. Nick was abused by all...

The irony is, I hate signatures...

Suzanne waits around for Nick to do or say something that she doesn't agree with, and then she goes off and attempts to reprogram him when this happens. She is careful enough to not make it obvious to the children, though.

I was just coming here to post something like this. She can be really nice but she is also very controlling and she is quick to get angry. There was the episode with Leyla Ali when she thought Nick was cheating and she went to confront him with a gun. When she is teaching her son how to wash his clothes, she is condescending and gets frustrated. She wouldn't wear the ring Nick got her from the stock up store because of what people might think, even though it was a nice ring. She always has something to bitch about.

I think that they are trying to go the route of Angela from Why Did I Get Married and other characters like her. One problem though Tasha Smith can pull it off & make it funny. Essence Atkins doesn't pull it off & she's not funny. They should have gotten another actress if this is what they wanted to do.
