TMNT is a match made for heaven for such a company like Platinum Dunes, only if they don't use unnecessary gore and nudity. Choosing a music video director to helm isn't a bad idea either considering the director of the first film was of that medium and still is I believe.

Bay ISN'T handling the film though. Sure enough, his company is and he's also producing, but the fault of the film will lie with the main crew, specifically the director.
That is, of course, if the new film turns out to be bad. It could be good for all we know (and I'm gonna say it; the first Bay-directed Transformers was better than expected, it's the second one where he really dropped the ball).
Form my perspective unfortunately it doesn't matter if Bay directs or only acts as the producer. As a producer so far it never really seemed like Bay leaves any director enough space for individuality.
If you like Bay's movies, you'll probably like this one too! But if you don't chances are high that this project is not going any good :-(.
Transformers broke my heart.
